My friend downloaded the game this past thursday and is current on updates. We were going to go explore Hoelbrak, but it turns out that he can’t enter it. Is there any reason why he should have the big no-go red symbol when trying to enter from Wayfarer Foothills?

Sounds like he has a Play for Free account. You can’t leave the starting areas until you are level 10.

They can go to the other starter areas though. The first WP of each is open.

But the OP was questioning why the Not Symbol over the gate to Hoelbrak for his friend. But you’re right, I didn’t tell them they could WP to the other starter zones.

And to be clear, the race home cities are off limits until level 10 and Lion’s Arch until level 35.
