Guild Wars 2

So I’ve gotten a Necro to 80, it’s my only max level. I had a blast levelling PvE. Half the time I went through the areas with friends which was really fun, and the times I wasn’t with people I had a blast pulling 10 or more enemies and walking away from a pile of smoking bodies, while I remain untouched.

I love WvW, and I do enjoy some sPvP although I’m not enjoying it on my Necro that much. Starting each match with 0LF being at a big disadvantage really sucks.

So I’m looking for a class that excels at PvE content. Something that can take on a ton of enemies at once. Something that has something useful to offer in dungeons. I also want a profession that can do well in WvW. I suppose this means the ability to lay down AoE, and possibly some area CC. And yes, I want it to also be competitive in sPvP.

So from your experience, is there any profession that offers all this?

I’ve played an ele to level 20 and was annoyed at dying against 2-3 enemies my level. I played a thief till level 10 and found it boring. I tried a guardian till level 20 and actually had fun with it, but found it to be really squishy compared to my Necro, maybe because I wasn’t geared yet or didn’t have many traits at level 20 but that was just what I felt. I tried an engineer to about level 15 and found it pretty cool but I’m having a hard time levelling it. I also just made a Ranger, it’s level 7. It seems ok but doesn’t really stand out to me yet.

I play with an ele in both pve and wvw (spvp is not really my thing). While leveling it did take me some time to understand the ele class and get some necessary traits. At about level 40 it started getting easier. For the ele class a lot of survivability comes from traits. At level 80 I can easily take on multiple groups, but you have to combine damage with crowd control. For wvw I do more support than damage, but still get a decent amount of kills while only rarely getting downed.
Currently this is my favorite.

Somebody said warrior?
If you are dedicated to it, now thats for sure.
elementalist comes second to mind, but these guys can’t just jump into enemies and hack’n’slash them.

Thanks for the input so far guys. Any suggestions on a profession that can make an impact in WvW, while being able to solo a bunch of mobs PvE?

Guard and ele are two of my 3 80’s and provide heaps of support/dps to my squad/team.

So far I’m thinking staff ele, mostly for WvW
