Q:
GTX 970 / 960 FPS big difference ?
A:
If you are going to just be playing GW2, then the 960 is great for that, I have one and do not notice any frame drops or stuttering. If you are going to be playing new triple A games on full settings, then the 970 would be a better bet.
A few more games actually , what is your fps in cities ? I want to know about the new HoT maps including SW and Drytop as well . Mind telling me ? Thanks !
Next time I’m on I’ll have a look at the exact numbers, but the other day I did have a look at my fps in HoTM just out of curiosity and it was between 55-60fps will a good amount of people around.
EDIT: ok had a quick look look around with a few toons, in DR had between 56-60 fps everywhere bar by the bank and BLTC, there it fell to lows of 45 to 50.
DT in HoT was around the 67-77fps, but there where one other player, and a load of mobs.
When I have more time, I’ll be able to give you better feed back.

From a general performance standpoint, huge difference between a GTX 970 and a 960. The R7 265 is an OC HD 7850 (same GPU) and is roughly 25% slower than a 960..
RIP City of Heroes

A gtx 960 or r9 380 is more than what you need to max this game. Going for a 970 won’t bring better framerate.
i7 5775c @ 4.1GHz – 12GB RAM @ 2400MHz – RX 480 @ 1390/2140MHz
What CPU do you have?
As for a GPU, get whatever is cheaper between a 960 or a 380 unless you’re wanting to completely max new AAA titles, in which case get a 390 (over a 970)

i use the same GPU as u, the sapphire radeon 1gbit HD 7850 and i get 80+fps everywhere, with a few settings turned down that honestly, dont really impact visuals. i play on a 55inch HDTV, 40-60 in LA, and 40-60 in dragon stand and big maps. what CPU are u using, thats more important. at 1080p, anything above 30FPS u wont notice TOO much diff in an MMO. and if ur monitor is 60hz refresh anything above 60fps doesnt matter.. gw2 options matches FRAPS fps in pic. i would say tho, if u plan to play other games, go 970 for the 256 bit bus.. as opposed to the 128bit 960..
So far , thanks for all the reply , really appreciate them.
Wow 45 ~ 60 FPS in DR is something I will never achieve with my current(dead) GPU…HoT Maps at 55-60 ? That’s really good ! I get only 20 fps or below most of the time in those maps…
Anyways , I’m using a Intel i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz , 8 GB RAM , monitor isn’t too fancy , just a HP 21 inches 1920 × 1080 – 60 HZ.
Well thanks everybody , I believe I’ve gotten the gist of it already. Think I’m going for the GTX 970 ( still unsure of the manufacturer tho but I’m probably gonna go for the Asus since my MoBoard is Asus.
Edit:Oh and I forgot to mention , my previous GPU was a 2GB non-sapphire Radeon .Got only 20 fps or below even when everything is set to the lowest in LA,DR , any cities you could think of (and worst of all , Black Citadel which have gotten my fps as low as 10).
