GW is awesome & always was - stop trying turn it into WoW
I see this post in every new MMORPG I play, and honestly, I think it does more harm than good. Here’s the thing…
When you consider new features for an MMORPG, one of your deciding factors should never be “Game X did this already, so we can’t.”
WoW has some good features that I think GW2 could really benefit from, like dungeon finder. Why should these features be ignored simply because WoW already has them?

Pretty much this.
Thing is, they are here wanting to change this game. They are here to check out the new shiny game, while they wait for MoP to come out. In which they will leave here regardless of any changes made or not.
I think people are having a hard time adjusting, since MMO’s in general have taught us to play a certain way for so long and when we get thrown out of our element, some of us seem to get a little… fussy.
Trust me, it’s something that frustrates me too, but it will get better in time as people either adjust or play something else.
You can only compare things from personal experience, and a lot of players have played World of Warcraft which is why we will always see it compared to most future MMOs.
I just want to say that WoW wasn’t the first MMO on the market (even though it was for a lot of you), and not all of their game mechanics are completely original.

Weird, aside from this post I’ve yet to see any post relating to what the OP states. In fact I was remarking that there was a serious lack of “Why not..” posts – which is a great thing.
If this is just my perspective then take is as such, but I’m loving it.

And I am most positive that ANET is more than aware of WoW’s features.
They are also more than aware of how this percentage of WoW players who go into new games begging for these same features to be used time and time again, and how those games tried to please this group and where are these players now?……Still playing WoW and not those games they so wanted to change.
It is time to let a gaming company see it’s own vision through. And for players to accept and respect that not every game wants to clone everything from WoW.

I think this is more in reference to the recent mass of gripe threads along the line of, “I can’t tank/heal, omagawddddd dis is dummmmm”
I’m sure things in similar calibur to something like dungeon finder may come along, and I’m certain ANet didn’t exclude it for the simple reason that WoW has it. I mean, WoW has crafting, single-line classes, races, levels, dungeons, PVP, etc., and we have those things in GW2. They certainly didn’t exclude any real volume of potential features on the sole reason that WoW has them, that would be silly.
I just wouldn’t expect them to completely re-think excluding the holy trinity. I think it was a good decision, and the vast majority of people playing seem to agree.

wow’s “features” have turned it into a cesspool of kitten who queue up from their lobby to mindlessly aoe for justice and valor points
they even managed to turn raiding into the same thing with LFR
people will take the path of least resistance, especially today’s “gamers”, don’t give them a path to take and they will make do.
As said by others, there are a lot of good things in WoW and, honestly, I also feel that GW2 would contribute from some of them (cross-server LFG, mounts, some way to save your spec and switch between them easily, including traits, etc). They are not game changers, but they certainly have their value.
It’s impossible to deny that WoW introduced and perfected a lot of mechanics during its long life time. Labeling everything found in that game as ‘garbage/useless’ is a kinda of silly.
