GW2 - Players - Compliment

Don’t you like being told you are nice people LOL?

I agree. I have found a lot of nice players including the members of my guild
It’s a great community that we have here in GW2 I’ve played other games and have been afraid to ask a question and get negative feed back but not here … I was on my hunter one day and a warrior helped me kill a mob and the next thing I knew I got mail from him (2 bows) telling me hope you can use…now he’s on my friend list and if I find something he can use I send it to him… " always have fun and get all the “DYE” drops" .
Welcome to GW2, Denis Strasse!
I agree, this game has one of the best communities I have met in long time (just stay out of the General Discussion board…things tend to get a little swampy in there! :P).
I hope you continue to enjoy the game and community, as much as I am!
Thank you folks – it is you who make my gaming most enjoyable.
You need to be thanked, praised and commended.
(I no how to speaka de anglish a bit)

I’ve found people to be generally helpful in game also. Every time I’ve asked for help, I’ve gotten it. When I’ve helped others they’ve said thanks. It’s a good community.
Yep…I agree. Its a pretty good community outside of parts of the forums. But negativity in the forums is pretty much the norm in all games.
56 myself…and my wife and I play and run a guild together also. Ok…so she runs it and I dabble with a multitude of alts.

I was surprised too. I found a lot of players to be quite helpful in that sense, like wandering around in a higher level area and asking other players to distract a vet so that I can grab a skill challenge. It’s not difficult to find players who are willing to help out.
Crowning achievement though, was this time when I was getting ganked repeatedly by Crystal Desert players (I’m from Maguuma btw) in the WvW jumping puzzle. I got to the dark room of the JP a little bit of luck (not encountering any enemy parties) and my trusty flamethrower to light the way.
Anyways, near the top portion of the dark room there is a doorway lit by a torch and lo and behold there are about 3 ‘Crystal Desert Invaders’ standing in the doorway watching me. At this point i’m by myself, a little asura with more of a PvE grenade build that a WvW ganking build. I take off my flamethrower and hide behind a pillar, hoping that they are just waiting for one of their friends to come and they won’t backtrack to come and do harm to me.
One of those little asuras jumps down from the doorway and starts making their way up to me. So i’m thinking oh man this is gonna suck if she tries to fight with me. So I start rekitting with things like flame turret and readying my blowout attacks and planning out a combo that would do high burst damage. The asura climbs up to where I am and i’m tensing up. So I press F2 to trigger big ol bomb to start my combo but it fails to go off, at this moment I notice that I havent been hit yet and I see that asura start doing the dance animation, which set me at ease. She shows me the way through the remainder of the puzzle and eventually I get to the end to see ‘more’ Crystal Desert invaders, mostly warrs/guards (it’s hard to tell by the way that they are rendered), however they make no hostile moves towards me. Instead they jump through the puzzle normally. Eventually something weird happened after I fell off a ledge and had to restart the final part of the JP and that was I was somehow invited to a party of ‘Crystal Desert Invaders’ and they talked to me on party chat (I dont think it showed their actual player names and their portraits were rendered in generic colors), so they helped me to complete the puzzle. So after getting ganked all those times by thieves and mesmers (and one failed attempt by a warr), I finally completed the puzzle with the help of some of the people near the end. I thanked them and went on my way.

I agree…most other MMORPGs are full of rude chatter in the chat channels etc.
Very little of that here, and the playerbase overall seems more mature
Picking up gaming at, what, 51 years old? That’s awesome Glad you’re finding GW2 a welcoming place! For my part I enjoy a diverse player base.
Overall the people experience is pretty good and i’m new to mmo’s so do not know the etiquette, i said in the chat window in game early on that i wished i had a better rifle, someone asked what lvl i was and i told them i was a human warrior at such and such lvl and they sent me mail and had crafted me one, i thanked them i thought that was very gracious and will not be forgotten, another lent me 1 gold, i hadn’t asked but i had got myself into lack of funds so i couldn’t buy my trait skills book and i was very grateful, i repaid them, as i know how to make gold now ;) :p Then someone offered out some rare weapons which i accepted, i gave them the price on what they were listed in game for, not knowing that the price of those weapons would of been much higher if they’d sold them on the trading post, i only started using the TP yesterday and i’m lvl 80 :( ;)
The only thing that erks me is playing alone, when i try to follow others i get the feeling they don’t want me to tag along, why i have no clue, i don’t go drawing enemies in, i wait for their cue’s so really just there as back up so how inconvenient can that be, i do find it weird.
@Zero Angel.9715, awesome story! A lot of folks have helped me too and I am paying it forward. Just a couple days ago I finished a skill point by myself, kiting my kitten off. Just as I was done, someone (lower level) came, obviously needing the skill point. So I stuck around helping until done.
Followed some players in an 80 zone one day being 78 myself, making sure not getting in their way as they invited me to the group. I ran with them for about 1/2 hour, got some great loot and thanked them for letting me run with the group when I had to go.
These are the things that make you love the game even more..
Pretty good community, I’d say just a notch under the GW1 community but awesome none the less.
The game community has allowed to meet a lot of awesome people that I really can’t see myself without now!

It goes to show that people really are decent if you give them a chance to be. ANet’s done a stellar job designing a game that both rewards cooperation and maturity and attracts those who value such things.
I thought I was an older gamer at 47! Not that 63’s old, if you keep your mind agile, as gaming helps you do -grins-
I’m glad to see others are as impressed with the maturity of the community as I am. I mean yes, there are some parts of the community where things get a little bit more venomous, particularly in Wv3. But even then it’s usually just one person getting their knickers in a twist with others trying to calm them down on chat.
I’d say 97% of the people I have interacted with since launch I would be more than happy to play with again. Maybe 2.5% I’d play with again after an attitude change (not everyone wants to do what you want to do!) and 0.5% I would rather never come across again.
That’s pretty impressive.
