Some say yes, some say no. I say oh yes, baby, give me more of them there slots. I have the max the game allows thus far, and no regrets. This may be due to my pack rat nature meaning I always want more storage, along with the pleasure it brings to so easily share things among my various alts that I use for different areas of the game.

There are a lot of account bound items that can only be used by one character at a time but many different alts may want. For example, crowbars to open crates in VB, salvage-o-matics, bank expresses, maybe some foods. There are also occasional needs to hand off items from one alt to the next. Toss it in a shared slot, log to the other alt, collect it. Soooo much easier than finding bank space and getting to a bank and remembering where in the bank you put the thing, if you even remember what thing it was by the time you get to the alt …

But only you know how much money you can spare for a game. I’d say they’re far more worth the money than outfits or glider skins, if you have to make hard choices on what to buy from the store. They bring a huge amount of QoL joy to the game play. Are six enough? That depends on what you want to put in them. I have, iirc, the 4 hot map chest keys, the DR and BF portal passes, all my tele to friends, my pile of bank expresses, my silver and copper salvage devices, and 3 infinite gathering tools, along with one or two slots that I rotate things in and out of for trading to alts or to remind myself I want to use them some time soon. (Like my chest of 150 dungeon tokens, one day I’ll decide which dungeon). I think my anomaly detecting stone is in there at the moment as well.

To me with 19 80’s they’re great. To someone who only plays one character, has lots of bag space, and is strapped for funds, they’re not at all worth the expense. Figure out where you are on that spectrum

Agreed with Donari.

I currently own the max amount of shared invy slots and they are a blessing to have if you own many alts.

WvW is my preferred game mode so superior siege blueprints being accessible across any character I log into is immensely helpful. The convenience of also owning contracts/portal scrolls (TP, Bank, Tarrktun merch, Captain’s Airship Pass etc) is 100% worth it imo.

Whether the slots are worth it or not is entirely personal preference. To me they are better than owning a measly glider or outfit and in the long run they are there for life which is a great QoL feature.

Hope that helps.

Totally depends on how often you realize while playing on one character than you wished you transferred X from another character to it first. Also depends on what convenience items you have. 6 slots is plenty if you only have copper-fed and something like the airship pass. But if you constantly switch characters farming say Silverwastes or HoT then there are those zone specific “keys” you would want in shared inventory.

I’ve maxed mine out at 14 but I also have the bobblehead table, silver-fed, EM repulser travel item, xp boosters, zone keys and I think a have two empty slots. But I ran with 5 until they bumped it to 10 and then to 13+1. You just have to be choosy and think about what is really convenient to share.

Just remember that gathering tools need to be slotted in the gathering tool slots and can’t be used from the shared slots.

I think they’re useful but very expensive, at least for how I use them.

I mainly use mine for items that it’s hard to predict when I’ll need them. Things like Revive Orbs, Teleport to Friend or on the less practical side my Quaggan Tonic, Balloon and Kite. I used to keep all that lot (and more) in my main character’s inventory, but then I’d always find myself wishing I had it on another character – when it was too late to get it.

At the moment I also have a spare Key of Greater Nightmares so I don’t forget it next time I’m doing Silverwastes and Vials of Manganese Dioxide because I’m farming them on a few different characters and want to keep track of my total.

(I got around the expense by using a combination of gold and real money, and then only because they were on sale when I didn’t have enough gold saved up. £30 for a minor convenience is way too much, but I don’t mind spending gold on things.)
