GW2 and Dual Channel Memory
have u tried both RAM chips in the same ‘working’ slot to make sure it isnt the RAM ?
If so then i would advise sending back ur motherbaord becouce its not somthing u want to keep running with a fault like that. If it was just one of the ram sticks then i would say just buy another one ..they aint that expensive and sometimes not worth the hassle getting them replaced .s.pecialy if u have to pay for sending it back. But the motherboard. .thats deffinatly somthing u want working 100%.
As for affecting GW2, so long as u have a 64bit OS and 4GB or more RAM, you should be fine. If however the RAM u have is 2x 2 Gb sticks ..then running with just 2Gb will be a problem…GW2 wil llikely crash with ‘out of memory’ errors.
EDIT: oh …are u sure ur putting the RAM in the correct slots. ..Most motherboards come wiht 4 or 8 RAM slots ..and they are paired together accoringly. So Dual channel mothebroards have RAM slots paired in 2’s and Quad channel motherboards for the LGA 2011 cpu’s are paired in 4’s. This means if u put 2 RAM sticks in and u put them in the wrong pairing ..only 1 may be registered. I beleve its standard in all mothboards for dual channel that the RAM stick go into the slots with 1 free slot between them.(when only using 2 sticks ofc)

Thank you for taking your time to help me Sol. I have tried them on every single slot and only B1,B2 seen to work and it’s two sticks of 4gb each. Thing is I can leave them on b1 and b2 and get all 8gb but only single channel. Which why I was asking if dual channel made that much of a difference in gw2.
I googled the problem and other people with similar problems said that it was a bent pin. I’ve looked but I’m unsure if there is a bent pin on mine.
If both A1 and A2 dont work it may well a fault in the board.
I sugest taking it back the retailer or contacting the manufacturer for advice.
I honestly dont think u will notice not having Dual Channel active when it comes to games, RAM speeds only really effect things like encoding, decompiling etc, where somthign would take say 2 minutes, a difference in RAM speed or dual vs quad channel may make that time go down to 1minute 55 seconds.

Thank you for your help. I will see if I can rma the board, if I can’t it’s good to know the difference between dual channel and single isn’t that big of a deal.
