GW2, getting the GW1 Titles
You can get the full points and people do still play the game.
You can totally still get 40/50 nowadays and you can do so almost completely solo. Getting 30/50 would be easier and is all you need to unlock all the HoM rewards. The last 20 are titles.
You just have to decide if it’s worth spending a few hundred hours in GW1 instead of GW2.

thanks guys, and thanks Greener, i have the Black Widow Spider pet already but its not showing in my hall of monuments i’m guessing i have to actually do something in the explorable area to unlock it. anyways thanks guys i’ll get right on it, i don’t mind spending a few hundred hours in GW1 ;D
I’m sure this question has been asked may times, but i found it was latest answered two years ago, so things have changed, but is it possible to get yourself up to atleast like 40/50 by replaying my beloved GW1? do people still pay GW1 or is it a ghost town? surely it will be difficult to get to that without any players.
Nothing significant has changed in the last two years. Then (as now) it was played mostly single player, with people around to trade and/or party up for tougher content.
It’s not at all difficult to get to 30/50 in the HoM (that gives you max tangible rewards for GW2). Getting to 40/50 is more difficult, but also soloable, as is 50/50 (more difficult still).
I’d strongly recommend asking GW2 players you know if they have things like spare minis or mats that you can use (following the guide linked by Greener, above) — you can pick up all that stuff on your own; having donations will, however, save you oodles of time
You have to take the spider to the Hall of Monuments and click on the Monument to Fellowship. You have to do this for everything – any time you get a new title, mini, weapon, armourset etc. you have to actually bring it to the Hall for it to be added. You also have to log out of GW1 before the calculator and GW2 will update.
The one exception is the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title – there’s an NPC in pre-searing Ascalon who will add it to the Hall for you, so you don’t have to leave pre-searing on that character unless you want to.

You have to go to the Hall of Monuments and apply everything to each monument. Stick with one character when doing this and especially with the miniatures.

To get the Black Widow available in the GW2 HoM, you have to get 30 HoM points. You having it in GW1 doesn’t matter, except to register on the Heroes/Pets altar. I think Black Widow counts as a rare pet though so it might give you an extra point.
The biggest problem I saw was that it was hard to make trades. There simply aren’t enough people to trade with. But, many of the hardest achievements require trading, or else a heck of a lot of grinding.
(FYI: I completed my 50th point about 1 1/2 – 2 years into GW2’s life span. That’s my last experience with GW1. I should go back and see what 13th birthday presents come, but I just don’t have the heart for it any more.)
It depends on what you’re trying to trade.

That’s not any different from from when I was last active. (And I traded nearly every day.) You have to be in a specific place at a specific time. That said, nearly everything needed for the HoM is being traded more often than stuff that isn’t.

There simply are, just not enough to make it easy.

Again, not any different from how it was years before.
The lack of an automated trade system is one of the worst things about GW1. At the time it didn’t bother me because I’d never played a game that did it any other way. After playing GW2 I hate to go back to it. I have a bank tab slowly filling with duplicate minis and tonics I don’t want because whenever I log in I can’t stand the idea of spending my time standing in Kamadan trying to get my spam seen by the right people (who may not even be online) through everyone else’s spam.

You can still get all the way up to GWAMM in GW1 right now, but you have to work for it a fair bit. I did it last year – from scratch.
Like other people said, trades are kinda hard to get by but you can get most of the stuff just by playing yourself and trying to hit the right festivals for the rest. For example, halloween is great for finishing the 3 consumable titles (tonics, drinks, food).
Also, you won’t really have access to FA (since nobody plays it) so for canthan cartographer you will need to break out of the map a bit to finish the title.
For the Black Widow Spider I’m pretty sure it needs to be level 20 and then you go to the Hall of Monuments to dedicate it before it shows up as a point.
