Hi All,

So I’m looking at buying a new computer in about a month. I figured I may as well buy a half decent one so I can get high visual settings and a nice frame rate in GW2. Unfortunately I’m not all the tech savvy when it comes to PCs.

I’m aware that GW2 is somewhat heavily reliant on CPU (for some reasons I don’t fully understand).

With that in mind, I’ve gone and chosen this set up:

Motherboard – ASUS H170M-E D3
Processor – Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz
Video Card – Gigabyte N750TOC-2GL GTX 750 TI OC
Network Card – Gigabit 10/100/1000 Fast Network Card (Integrated)
8GB RAM

2x Hard drives (it comes with 2 drives?):
1 is a 2TB SATA3 Hard disk
the other is a 120GB SSD

I’ll probably put GW2 on the SSD to try and reduce those load times a bit. Other than that, I’m not too sure what I’m looking at and if these specs will give me high/max settings with a decent frame rate in-game (at least 30fps).

If anyone knows whether or not these specs will do the job, please let me know!

Thanks in advance

Only the Video card seems a kitteneap compared to the rest, look for at least a GTX 960, the rest seems really good, and put the GW2 on the SSD is great, the loading times between maps and instances reduces drastically.
But with that setup you’ll get over 30 FPS for sure anywhere except very crowded world bosses where you’ll get under 30 no matter or what.

(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

That’s a good setup. I too would swap out the 750ti. The 960 is well worth the extra money. I get good frame rates while playing all aspect’s, fps drop between 26-30 at peak time world bosses, but everyone has problems there. Also, don’t skimp on the power supply. A lot of people over look them. If you are going to buy good parts, don’t risk them on a poor PSU.

Just remember not to use LA as a ‘control’ place to test your performance.

Change the motherboard to any other with a z170 chipset for overclocking support and other nice features. Also go for a 6700k over 6700 because its unlocked and also has a higher stock clock if you dont want to overclock. GTX750ti is not “that” good so if your budget allows, go for either gtx950, 960, 970 or 980ti.

I recommend Samsung 850 evo if you are getting a solid state drive.

Not sure but i think that cpu does not come with a cooler. (Check that)
I recommend getting Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or Noctua NH-D15.
