GW2 on External Hard Disk Drive?
should be possible but slow(er) loading times.
thank you i will try it out, the loading time isn’t a big deal as i mostly play WvW anyway
the file is too big for the destination file… does someone have an idea how to make sure that GW2 can only play when a different variable is fulfilled?

What is your reason for restricting the playing of GW2? Setting up the authenticator would be a way to control access to your account.
It’s more of a way of restricting myself kind of, got the security authenticator done already.
Is there a way to split up the 21 GB from GW2 so that I can actually put it onto my ext hard drive (120 GB free so space is not the problem… just the file is too big)?

It means your external drive has the wrong filesystem type. If you don’t have anything else on the drive reformat it as a NTFS drive. It is probably formatted as FAT32 right now which can’t have files above 4GB regardless of how much space you have on the drive.

Ah true I heard of that back when I was using a mac…
How do I reformat it as a NTFS drive?
There should be a “Format …” option when you right click on the drive. Make sure there isn’t anything you need on the drive before doing it though since that will delete everything on the drive.
I run gw2 from a usb 3 flash drive and it’s faster than my hard drives. Almost as fast as an ssd.
GW2 on the K: drive in the image.
Thanks at all of you, I didn’t have to reformat the disk just adjust the allocation unit size, works now perfectly though!
