I want to know if you can get exotic or legendary armor, jewelry and weapons with the stat combination I actually want. As a guardian I am constantly annoyed just looking at my traits and skills and how they don’t really fit together. I’d like to be able to at least get the stats I want on my gear. Which three stats are never a combination on gear and why? Here is a few examples of stat combos I’d like to have for my guardian with a reason.

Precision/toughness/vitality – If I’m gonna be forced to get crit dmg with the toughness and traits I want, why can’t I get precision instead of power to go with my toughness and vitality . I believe power alone as a stat is probably better than precision and definitely crit dmg by itself, but when I have + up to 30% crit dmg I’d like to make use of it while getting the other stats I want as well.

Healing/toughness/vitality – If this exists I have yet to see it. I know its not intended to have ppl playing pure support roles, but when you give me such wacky traits on my guardian I can’t help but want to actually make use of how supportive I am while having optimal survivability. I’m really not sure this would play out if fully stacked up, but I’d like the option to use this type of combination in some situation to compensate for stats my trait build is lacking just as many ppl use dps gear to compensate when building as beefy as possible for survivability.

There may be more combinations that do not exist which are probably desirable for some builds or these may even already be available and I just cant find any info about it, but I would like vitality especially to be in more stat combination as it seems to be quite useful when trying to counter heavy condition dmg

I have been overall disappointed by how little I can actually customize my characters stats to my liking as well as my traits(specifically the guardian traits). I seems I am destined to play another profession or grit my teeth and watch my less desirable stats contribute what they can to my build while rangers smile and spank buns.

Don’t think that I’m saying guardians are not a decent profession because I really enjoyed leveling mine , there are great things about them and also other more specific issues I have with their traits that I haven’t mentioned in this post simply because this is not a a guardian specific topic.

Please reply with anything I left out that’s on topic, reasons why those stats combination should or shouldn’t exist and also any good alternative stat and trait combinations that may be more comfortable or comfortable enough to settle on. Replies shouldn’t be only guardian specific although I would appreciate a little feed back specifically on the profession since it’s the one that I am mostly disturbed by with regard to this topic.

i agree with you on that. it might be true for some other professions, but i definitely notice that the guardian trait lines are very goofy and really dont make a whole lot of sense. i am just considering from what i have seen of this entire game so far that it will still be in beta for about another year. we are just all beta testers. i mean look at the patch notes each time, the stuff that is being fixed should have been fixed before the game even came out.

No, I feel it is fairly consistent with all professions. As an engineer, I feel I want to invest into a stat, but a lot of times the traits in that line are a waste of time for the play style I am going for. They really should separate and differentiate the stats themselves from the traits, to allow us the diversity of having a trait line to go down that is separate from the stat increase.

Poor craftsman blame their tools. Poor players blame their Engineer.

For my engineer, my gear stats are power/condition dmg/vitality (Carrion), but I plan on getting toughness through runes/gems. If I want more toughness then ill get power/vit/toughness gear (Soldier) and rune/gem condition dmg.
Maybe runes/gems will give you the extra stats your looking for?

Came across this article with the name of stat combo names for armor/gems – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Carrion#Prefixes

In terms of traits, every profession is similar in that aspect

@snackpackson

Itemization in this game is really flawed, the only one that makes sense is direct damage berserker power/crit/critdmg%. Condition spec players only has condition damage from armor and healers with +healing. I guess ANet just wants everyone to run around with damage gear

The problem with some of the gear you mentioned false for example, on the condition engineers like me. Power does absolutely nothing for us. Precision is much more useful. I think what most people are getting at here, is that even as a base, we should have gear that has a combination of any 3 stats out there in both jewelry and armor.

I absolutely agree. I have purchased an additional 3 slots. I have both engineer and elementalist at 80. I have that issue with both. It is apparent I will have it in other classes as well (I have all the other classes ot a minimum of 30)
