Is right now a good time to convert gems to gold or will the value go up (or down)

Never convert gems to gold. Its ot worth it. The price of gems will allways go up . You can even compare on tp how much gems can you get for 100 gold and how much gems you must convert for getting those 100 gold back.

That’s up to the individual player to decide to whether it is worth it.

The best time is pretty much within the first hour or so after they release something very desirable in the gem store. This is where the gold→gem rate shoots up which also makes the gem→gold rate shoot up as well.

it depends on time, if you have lots of time to spare and enjoy playing the game then just make the gold in game.
if you dont have that much play time but can afford to put an extra hour or two at work for gems to gold, then do that instead. just dont get too carry away

The exchange rate changes constantly. I think it’s updated every 3 minutes or so, based on the volume of transactions in each direction.

Over a long time the amount of gold you will get for your gems will almost certainly go up (because more people buy gems with gold than gold with gems). Over a short time it fluctuates wildly based on a whole variety of factors. Probably the most consistent of those is how many people are online and what’s on offer in the gem store.

So the best time to buy gold with gems is probably peak time on a day when they’ve just released popular items in the gem store. New releases are usually on a Tuesday, but how popular they’ll be is hard to predict.

As for whether it’s worth it that’s up to you. Some people say it’s the best way to make gold because even at minimum wage (in most Western countries) you’ll earn more per hour than you could farming gold. For me that’s outweighed by a number of factors such as having lots of other uses for real life money and being able to get gold essentially free while I’m doing things I find fun in-game.

At the moment the exchange rate has almost reached a point where I might consider it worthwhile for certain items (it’s about £12 for 250g right now), based on what I’d be willing to spend in a cash shop for the same items. But not quite.

Another way to stretch your money further is to invest it into multiple accounts. With 30 accounts, you can make over 2K gold every 28 days. If you spend the time to get them so they can craft T7 time-gated mats, that’s 9K gold a month. You make the money you would have spent to convert to gold in a little over a month or about 5 months depending on what you do.

Holding on to excess gems is your choice. Just be aware that converting Gold to Gems and back to Gold will be a loss unless you converted back when Gold to Gems was much, much cheaper.
