Do you get enough hero points/skill points to “max” every skill?

Thanks for any replies

You get enough points to max everything by level 80. After that the additional points are used to level the elite specializations if you have HoT. Even then there will be several hundred extras.

Yes, and more. You’ll get enough hero points to unlock all core skills and traits just by hitting level 80, and can get them sooner by doing hero challenges for more.

Assuming you have the expansion, you’ll also have more than enough to unlock the elite specialization after you unlock all core abilities, though you’ll have to get at least some in the new zones (or through WvW), as there aren’t quite enough in the core maps.

You have a tab called “Training” in your Hero Panel which is a linear for each skill and trait, so you can’t decide on which you want to get first only which “track” you want to use your HP on.

Read about your core specialization on Guild Wars 2 wiki , so you know a bit more about what to expect when you level up. It can be hard sometimes to go to zones when you are missing some core specialization. As an example if your profession have access to signets (passive and active skills) and you unlock those first, then you would probably gain most from also first unlock corresponding core specialization which improve use of those skills.
