I’m going to say this again. Don’t do this fix. I am not sure why its stickied. Its a stupid thing to do.

The main issue is SOME ATI cards did not detect Guildwars 2 properly so your clocks would stay at 2D application levels.

Manually setting your 2D application settings to equal your 3d application levels is GUARANTEED to shorten the life span of your video card.

If you even check the original post with the guide the guy changes his 2D clock speeds from 250mhz to 300mhz. That is a tiny change that HAS NOTHING TO WITH 3D gaming.

Also if you download the newest ATI profiles it has one for guild wars 2 which will enable 3D clock speeds when you launch the game.

BASICALLY DONT DO THIS FIX ANYMORE

If you did the fix and it made no change that means your video card is working properly. When you run a 3D application your clock speeds will ramp up to their normal levels.

When you run a 2D application (everything else you do on your pc) you don’t need these higher clock speeds.

What this guide says to do is raise your 2d clock speeds for things like games in internet explorer or other non-intensive things.

lastly, if you want to know if your card is working properly just get gpuz, launch the game and alt tab out to check the clock rates. If they are high you’re good. If they are horribly low then get the new profiles.

I’m running an ATI HD 7770 and my fps on my 30’ TV is only at 25-27 FPS, i know thats low because i run BF3 at max settings and its smooth, what do I need to do to fix this, I am a complete noob at computers and settings so, I understood what you said by changing but I just don’t understand the values, like what should I change my values too? I know how to get there to change but just don’t know what to change the 2D clocking values to. Help Please.

Go to ATI’s site and download the latest Application Profiles pack.

It has a new profile specifically for guild wars 2. This will guarantee that the game is being detected as a 3D application and your video card will detect its clock speeds properly.

This fix is old and out dated now.

Here are the benchmarks for 7770. Depending on your CPU, this could be a lower average FPS. Im running 7770 in crossfire (buyers remorse to the max) and my average is only about 45-60 at maxed settings. In really congested area, I can still drop as low as 35. This game is very VRAM dependent, and 1GB is not a lot these days, but still manageable

Edit: I am also overclocking my FX-6100@ 4.5 ghz. If your drivers are up to date, but your CPU is outdated, you could also be looking at a bottleneck.

I installed AMD 12.9 beta drivers and 12.9 CAP 1 yesterday, and ive definitely noticed a slight improvement. No real Framerate boosts, but the frame drops have definitely become minimal. I know the 7900 cards have been problematic with this game, so you may experience different results.

My FPS sky-rocketed after this, however, whenever I got to LA and I was above the auto-detect settings the game would freeze for a couple of seconds, and then resume and so on. I used your settings and I have an HD6870, however it is an Asus, does that have to do with anything, the voltage maybe?

Hi guys!

You have to excuse my lack of knowledge in this matter, but I simply can’t figure out what settings to change and into which values.
I have made a screenshot from gpu-z.
My pc:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz
8GB RAM
64-bit OS W7
HD4870 1GB

Should I even try this method at all? My system is not as new as yours :-)

I hope you can guide me.

I have a 6770, and I followed all of the steps up until the editing of settings.

Do I need to add the autotunesupport section, and the related subsections, or am I supposed to be editing values that should already be there? I ask because those fields do not exist.

Also, some tested values for this card would be helpful.

Thanks

AMD Radeon HD 6850 – no effetcs.

Still, up to 30 FPS in Black Citadel, and 8-40 FPS in WvW, yet I can play Battlefield 3 on high details fluently. This is so upsetting, I am forced to do sPvP, but I bought this game mainly for WvW…
I hope Arena Net will do something about this, because it feels like licking a lollipop through a wrapper.

Amazing boost in performance, though when I max everything out (which I can nowdo with about 50 FPS :O), the game freezes for 3 secs then goes black for 3 secs frequently. On normal settings this doesn’t happen. Running Radeon 4670 HD (don’t mock me )

Ok so I think I need help. I own an Alienware M17x, with an AMD Radeon 6870m (I think, because now it doesn’t say) and I’m about to cry right now. I read on someone’s post on the first page that the latest driver fixed the FPS issue with GW2 (I’m kind of a noob so forgive me if I’m somwhat vague) so I googled around and ended up on their site, in an article that said to first uninstall my ATI Catalyst Control Manager (or something like that), to then use their Autodetect Driver software thing to find the latest one for my Graphics card. So I follow the instructions and uninstall the Catalyst, and my whole laptop look went to kitten The windows and the entire interface now looks huge, and I’m kind of in panic mode right now and can’t find a way to reinstall this. Since it seems like a lot of you guys have Alienware laptops, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to reinstall whatever I uninstalled. I don’t care about no stupid drivers anymore, I just want my computer look back ;_;

EDIT: Crisis averted. Disregard this post. Thank you God.

So, after reading everything, i have to ask. I have an AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR3 GPU (Not factory overclocked by the way, so it’s at 800MHz), Also i have an Intel Core i7-3820 (4 cores, 8 threads) at 4 GHz. And in LA I drop to 20-25 FPS where as out in the world, the FPS vastly varies from 30-50+ FPS. I haven’t tried the ATI profiles yet which i will. So, I just want to ask for any advice with any setting tweaks to help boost because I’m sure the 7950 and my CPU together is very capable of reaching high FPS in GW2

Laptop with 6620g + 6750m. For me, no amount of graphics card tweaking increases fps, except for switching between internal 6620g and external 6750m. Overclock, Crossfire, overclock + Crossfire – no fps increase anywhere. So far only way for me to increase performance is to overclock the processor.

Not entirely sure I want to try this. I run on Linux wine using [4.0Ghz i7, Radeon HD 6950 (2GB), 12GB RAM ]. The AMD driver for linux is not an official release (its a hack driver) Usually I get 15-25 fps which is tolerable, however, when on Win 7 I get 60 fps. Im not sure how changing the profile could affect the rest of my system. Ill ask around and see if anyone knows anything. Thanks for posting this!

Alas, building a profile did not work for me. My 6950 did not have any issues with 2D or 3D GPU core clocks.
The issue is not at my end, it appears to be either a server issue or a routing issue on Level3’s part. I am being sent to level3 in Japan, Germany, Paris France and all over the United States.
