I charmed a pig, basically just for fun and now I want to get rid of it. I’d charmed animals before and after this, but for whatever reason, not only have I been unable to figure out how to get rid of it, it appears to be my default pet as well. Can anyone tell me how I can remove it entirely? Thanks!

You can’t remove the pet.
To switch your main pet hit “K” and there should be an arrow over the pig icon…click it and select a new pet.

There is no need to remove pets, you can have as many as you want. You can change your active pets by clicking on the pet picture above your weapon skill bar (or pressing K I think), and you can change your active pet from all the ones you have charmed.

So don’t hate the poor pig, you can keep him, and all other juvenile pets as well

the inability to play it without pets, i think it’s a great class with amazing gameplay, but i didn’t really like the fact that my pet had to but in, in all my glory moments

Part of the fun of being a Ranger is hunting down all those Juvenile tameable pets in the game. As others have said, you can swap the pets out and choose whichever ones you want to play with.

Edited to add: For those that don’t like pets, I’ve heard that warriors are a good alternative.

Thank you I have to tell you how ridiculous I am, the square on the top left didn’t have an arrow so I “assumed” that it wouldn’t open up to a selection screen…

There is a stow pet option. So you wont have a pet out. Try it.

This doesn’t actually work to permanently hide your pet though, it stows it until you take damage and activates your pet.

Toggle your pet from guard to passive. Yes, it will pop out each time you take damage, but each pet has an ability (F2) that you’re missing out on by not having the pet out.

And on passive it just sits next to you anyway.

You can’t remove it, but you can replace it as an active pet. If you only have your starter pet and the pig, you will want to tame another pet. After you have another pet tamed, you can then replace the Pig with another pet in the pet management tab. You will never pull the pig out again unless you “equip” it. You can have 2 land pets readied and 2 aquatic pets readied and switch out between the two as you need to.
