I’ve bought heart of thorns, but stopped playing it after about 4 months. How easy would it be to get back into the swing of things?

I have really slow internet speeds, so it’s not that quick. I’d love to know what I’m in for when it finally downloads!

Well you’ve barely been gone anytime at all so you’ll get back into the game instantly.

- 3 full raid wings
- return of alpine wvw maps
- wvw reward tracks and merging of wvw servers (only wvw) to create better and more populated match ups.
- improvements to the HoT maps in terms of slightly lowered difficulty and much more accessible rewards.

Other than that, nothing that has changed would affect your return – it’s largely the same as when you left bar a few tweaks and improvements. The maps are still populated, the metas are still running (although the use of lfg is recommended for a full map).

I would say it is (mostly) very easy to get back into things — such is the nature of Gw2. But it would be easier to answer your question if I know what game-modes you prefer to play. Like, for example, do you mostly PvE (open-world, dungeons, fractals, or even raids?), WvW (zerging or roaming?), or PvP (ranked or unranked?)?

I mostly used to play for WvW and some PvE aspects (fractals/open world). I’d love to know how they’ve improved WvW, though. If someone could link me to patch notes, that’d be great!

Also keep an eye on the wvw subforums. Lots of polls have been running to help improve the experience. They are clearly focussing a lot on WvW atm

Pretty much what Donari mentioned. PvE fractals/open-world hasn’t changed much in 4 months besides maybe some better loot. WvW, however, is finally seeing some love. Albeit, most of the changes are still in-the-works and not present, but you can go in and see things like reward tracks and a form of “server merging” (not really, but I’m not good at explaining it) that really boosted activity. Sounds like you can hop in with no issues

Yeah with about 15kb of bandwidth. Updates were a nightmare, I actually took my pc to a friends to get that done. Definitely doable but not really recommended!

If it makes you feel any better, I don’t have internet so I have to tether my laptop to my phone to play the game at home. But I can only do that so much each month when taking into account my limited dataplan. :P
