I made a mistake on my Mesmer and accidentally bought a bunch of Philosopher’s Stones instead of buying them from my alts like I was originally planning. I’m now 70 Skill Points short from the Bloodstone Shard and my Mesmer is already at 100% world completion.

Anyone have any tips on how to obtain skill points relatively fast on my Mesmer?

Level again and again. every time you level from 80-81 an angel gets its wings and you get a skill point.

I know this, I have 100% world completion afterall. I’m asking if anyone has found an effective way to level up fairly quickly so I can get these 70 additional Skill Points in a decent amount of time.

A dungeon is pretty much 1 level.

Dungeons can also take a pretty long time to complete. I’m more interested in a fast way to obtain Skill Points.

That’s about as fast as you’re gonna get. Leveling crafting professions is another option.
If I were you, though, I wouldn’t worry about it yet. You’ll probably level up a crap load while you’re farming for gold/mats for the rest of the stuff you need for your legendary.

One of the devs guiding principles is “no farming”. So, there will never be a way to “easily” level up.

Of course, that means grinding through, which theoretically they also don’t want to see.

one dungeon is more or less one-level like some have mentioned. crafting is also a good way – but know you’ll have to pay the profession-switching / relearning fee (40s for lvl 400) when you do want to switch back to your main professions. each 1 – 400 is 10 levels.

just keep farming for now, and am sure you’ll have more than enough skillpoints. i just picked up my bloodstone shard the other day and had 5 sp left so i got some stones. and then just last night, i figured i should have 1 – 2 SP, so i went to talk to Miyani again, and ended up having 10 SPs! you level up a lot faster than you know. just don’t watch the kettle boil ; )) key is perception haha

and good luck!!

Daily Achievement = 42% of a level.
5 level appropriate events = 35% of a level.
60 level appropriate kills = 7.5% of a level.
20 gatherings in level appropriate areas = 10% of a level.
So, by doing your daily, you’re getting 94.5% of your level, once a day, every day, if you do everything in a level-appropriate zone. Considering this only takes about 10 minutes, I’d suggest it. Once you’ve got that, dungeons:

Dungeon completion = 70% of a level.

The kills in the dungeon often make up pretty close to the other 30%, sometimes more, sometimes less. There are 8 dungeons in the game, with a total of 25 exploration paths, and 8 story paths. At ~1 level each, that’s ~33 levels before you have to repeat one. Each dungeon takes between 30 and 45 minutes to complete with a good team.

Also, there is crafting. Crafting is a one time thing, once you get to 400, you stop getting levels. However, there are 80 levels worth of crafting experience to be had, 10 per profession. More with boosters.

Here’s what I like to do, in my 1.5 to 2 hour day:

A few minutes: Daily Achievement. - this is always first, and warms me up.
1.5 hours: All paths, one dungeon . - I change the dungeon up, depending on the day.
2 hours: After dungeons, I usually put in half an hour of WvW. If there’s nobody to kill, or we’re doing good, I get the jumping puzzle for the chest.

By doing this, I can always get at least one level a day, and if I have at least 1.5 hours, I get four. If you have more time than I do, and really want the levels, keep dungeons in mind.

Perhaps an easier perspective on this would be to look at the shard itself. As long as shards are account bound, it might be easier to gain the skillpoints on an alt, or to make a new alt entirely with the purpose of easy level-ups and skillpoint farming throughout various maps. It would be a lot easier than forcing yourself to level 70 times through experience alone, that much can be said.

The experience alone is significantly easier at higher levels, and comes with a slew of other rewards. If you level an alt for the sole purpose of getting skill points, you have to do the first five levels. And of course, you might want to spend them on skills.

In the time it would take you to go level 1-10 on an alt, get 5 skill points from levels and two or three from skill challenges, you could have done your daily and a full dungeon, netting you 4 skill points, 180 dungeon tokens, gold, and loot. As you get higher in level, you’ll be wanting to spend more of those slowly earned leveling skill points on actual skills, too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve tried running dungeons, but honestly, I have a hard time believing that is the fastest way to get skill points at level 80.

Let me make this clear, I can’t buy the Bloodstone Shard on an alt, the item is soulbound, not account bound. It also requires 200 Skill Points, so leveling an alt is useless. I need a fast way to gain roughly 60 skill points on my mesmer. Like I’ve already mentioned, I’m 100% on world completion.

I also like to point out that I don’t want to “slowly work on it while gathering my other materials needed” due to the fact that I’m pretty much done with all the gifts for my legendary. Just need the precursor, 60 skill points, some more ectos and the 100 Icy Runestones. Also keep in mind Mesmers are pretty bad at Plinx or any other loot group farms due to our limited or slow activation AoEs.

Anyway, let me know if you have any new suggestions.
