Guild Wars 2

Hello everyone! I really enjoy the community in Guild Wars 2 and I wanted to give back to the community by holding a raffle. This is the first raffle of many and wanted to start it with a bang. A raffle ticket will cost you 1 gold which you can mail me. To know that I have received it I will message you back. Due to an influx of mails please wait at least 24 hours for me to respond back to you. Winners will be selected by using a Random Number Generator[http://www.random.org/] , where each entry will be given a number. The remaining proceeds will be saved up for bigger and better prizes, where hopefully one day I can raffle up a precursor, which will give you guys a better and cheaper chance than the mystic toilet or regular RNG in game.

- One entry per person!
- If a winner, please post on the forums that you have won.
- Spread the word and have fun!
- Contest ends in a couple weeks.
- Once entered please message me a week letter to reconfirm you are on the list.

Well apart from spelling my name wrong this is a good post. Just posting to vouch for Ghost, this is for real ladies and gents. Here’s to hoping I win! :p

So what do the procedes go to? I mean all the gold you raise from the raffel where does it go after paying for the dyes if enough gold has been collected to cover it? Also how are you determining the winners? Are you running some kind of random number script and if so what type and what will the procedure be? Is a third party player somehow auditing the raffel for legitimacy?

I’m not trying to be a jerk but I think knowing this information would be helpful before investing gold in a raffle.

Update: Due to looming skepticism about the event I am looking for 3 third-party auditors that will over see the event to end, making sure the winners get their loot and everything is conducted fairly. Please message me if you are interested in becoming an auditor!

My honest feedback about this is you’re asking too much for a fun raffle. Try 10s and only one prize or something, unless you’re only targeting people with too much money to burn, in which case they likely already have the dyes they want.

And if the raffle was 10s, maybe he should just raffle off unidentified dyes, this is a raffle for two of the highest “original” dyes. A 1 gold ticket isn’t that much, any level 80 can make that in an hour of playing, heck some lower levels can still make that pretty easy. I have too much money currently but that doesn’t mean I’ll spend 17g on Abyss, if I can get it for 1g? I’ll take those chances. The idea of this is to help people who HAVE the money, but aren’t willing to spend HUGE amounts of money for one cosmetic item.

So the point being 1 gold isn’t all that much for a fun raffle, that’s easily gained again, and if you win any of these wouldn’t you say that was 1g very well spent???

I’m sure your intentions are good and you are trying to build a better community and I think that’s great. Unfortunately people will remain skeptical when it comes to sending money to someone they don’t know. I was trying to think of a way I could help you with this but I don’t play much and after armor repairs from WvW today I am broke

Perhaps finding a very well known player/guild to hold the money and verify how much money was raised would be helpful. Also if many people do enter you will probably have more gold than the cost of the items you are giving away. People will want to see/know exactly where that money is going aside from saying for better prizes later. People may think you are talking about a better prize for yourself. I’m kidding

Once again I applaude you for taking the time to try and do something good for the community. I look forward to seeing how it works out.

Well, my point was that 1 gold is too much for me. I guess I don’t know how to make money the way you do. It was well-meant honest feedback and I’m not sure why you got offended.

Edited to say: Ahh, I meant to add for the OP that one reason I suggested a lower price was in any paid thing there’s a balance point between what people think it’s worth and what they want to pay, and if you can give it a price where people can afford a ticket but might actually buy more than one ticket anyway, you’ll have more participants and nobody feels ripped off if they don’t win. In my experience with real world raffles they’re cheap so you can buy a ticket, or five tickets, or twenty-five if you really want the prize and a better chance to get it.

You might mean all the best in the world, but my cynicism just can’t let me get past this one….
