Ghosting through low level areas
they added the system where you get down leveled for a reason so i HIGHLY doubt they’re going to add what you want when they COULD (but won’t) remove the level scaling
I found that if you use a speed boost you can run through most of the low level areas without much fighting involved. With a speed boost all you have to worry about is ranged attacks and if they use them your usually outside of aggro range by the time they finish their animation and melee classes can’t catch up to you.
I like it the way it is myself. If they do what you want you’ll get the same issues that WoW has, that is barren and empty low level areas because high level characters find it way too boring being able to one shot everything.
Gonna have to vote against you, Xana. I think the level down-tuning is overall a very good thing. Also, there are warp points basically everywhere; it’s not like you’re slogging for hours on end, just an extra minute or two for the fights. I don’t think it’s a huge issue.
I think the system introduced with this game is cutting edge. I hope other MMOs adopt something akin to it in the future.
Are you seriously suggesting this game isn’t like WoW enough?
I actually like this facet of the game. It keeps all the maps new and all the boss fights and dynamic events on an even scale between the players

I`m afraid i don`t really get your problem. I´m playing a ranger so not the hardiest class. If i want to explore i just run trough the mobs, perhaps with a few dodges thrown in. On a higher level you can outrun almost any mob (besides rooting caveworms and being hit by cave trolls/ettins). Even if you are hit its not like you will die instantly. I mean there are some vistas/points of interest in the southeast of lornars pass where you have to pass through a bunch of ettins/ stone throwing jotuns. As long as you evade the knockdown you can do this while being 2 levels below the mobs . It`s even possible to do the heart quest in the area while running. I never had trouble exploring any area (as long as i didn`t run into an elite by chance). No one forces you to fight with every mob thats attacking you.
I don’t want to be able to one shot everything, I love the level scaling. I think it is the best thing since City of Heroes sidekick/exemplar system. Ghosting would just make you incorporeal, you can’t kill or interact with anything and vise versa, as soon as you toggle out of ghost mode, you will still be level scaled.
I can easily explore lower areas without much problem. Taking some extra time to walk around the mob might be a pain to you, but then, you won’t chance getting mobbed to death. I am a ranger also. Quite squishy. You don’t have to fight everything that presents itself to you. Now some areas like skill points, may have a higher level mob to take down, but you should be able to do it with the extra skills you get as you level.
What would be the point, free xp and loot for map completion?
While I think that I get downleveled perhaps a little to harshly in some areas I understand and like the method. Even with all the experience and countless battles in the end of the day we are still mortal and not gods so running around 1 shotting everything and taking hundreds of blows just to shrug them off doesn’t make sense. 6 months down the road you may like the fact that you can still go back to queen’s forest and help the farmers without becoming completely bored or creating a new character.
I feel that if I want to explore, I want to be able to comfortably. There are some great looking areas in this game that I would love to see, and while waypoints are helpful, I still have to walk all over the map to find them. Some vistas can can a lot of strategy and time to find the start and require you to run circles around mountains if you are having trouble with it, mobs distract from discovery process in my opinion. Not to mention the respawn timer in some areas is pretty rediculous, and if you are slow to kill, you can find your self fighting a very long battle, especially as a turret engineer. And I don’t want you to think that I am asking for my level 80 power to be available in a level 15 area, I just don’t want to be bothered by mobs that provide little experience or drops relavent to my characters level. They why I think ghosting would only be available to people that have far outleveled and area.
I feel it is fine as it is. It really isn’t all that hard to fight off a few monsters so you can take a look at your surroundings to figure out what you need to do. If you don’t want drops that aren’t relevant don’t wait till your after you rushed to 80 to start exploring. If you can’t be bothered, don’t.
