Get gathering tools as fast as you can.
Not only will you have the materials for when you decide to begin crafting, but it will also be a great way to earn experience on the way there.
typing “/wiki” in the game opens up the guild wars 2 wiki. from there you can access information and more tips.
It is highly recommended to go to all the waypoints and vistas as you walk by them. This way you won’t have to travel between so many waypoints when you are trying to complete an area.
Crafting gives you A LOT of xp as well. Make sure when you craft you are doing discoveries, rather than production, as discoveries give you MUCH more experience than just making the same item over and over again.
Also, you will run out of materials very fast if you just produce the same items.
Trait lines are for traits – use them to build the character you want to play. The stats they get are (mostly) marginal, and will be helpful in some way no matter what they are.
Stats are for gear – wear different clothes to min/max them.
Choose your Skills wisely. Read the descriptions and plan what you will be using, and then hang on to those extra skill points, you can never have too many. There is a vendor in Lions Arch that sells components for legendary weapons for 200 SP’s. So dont waste them early on skills you wont use.
Also dont forget to use foods, you can get easy bonuses and experience by just having a handful of delicious treats in your bag. Most are available cheaply on the TP, and especially at low levels, an extra +10 exp per kill will help you level up faster.
Similarly, equiping a legendary weapon does not make you a legend.
Conditions that Stack Duration uses the highest value for the entire combined duration. Thus it is best to combine skills that provide low damage long duration with high damage short duration for maximum benefit.
