Hello everyone sorry, I’m new here , I hope this is posted in the right place..
Today I was playing with my character in the snowy mountainous area in the Gendarran Fields when I saw someone gliding of a mountain, I immediately noticed that they were not level 80, in fact they were only level 28, I didn’t understand how this was possible? I thought you had to be level 80 to be able to glide? If you don’t and you can learn to glide at any level then can someone please tell me how? I have been wanting too for ages, I was quite disappointed when I got told you had to be level 80.. So can anyone answer my question? I should also mention that I didn’t get their name so I cant contact them to ask or report them if they have hacked the game.

All masteries are account wide once learned. So while you do need to be level 80 to learn how to glide, once youve learned it any char on your account can glide. A level 2 can glide as soon as it’s out of the starter instance.

It’s great being able to glide on low level chars. It makes a big difference when doing map completion and leveling to be able to glide off any hill you come across. Makes leveling that much more fun as you actively look for tall places to glide off of.

I have levelled my character up to level 80 bought some wings from the gem store and have no idea how to glide is there somewhere i need to go or do to learn? sorry if i have written this wrong first time!

To learn how to glide you need both the expansion heart of thorns and to have done the first heart of thorns story line quest, which begins in the silverwastes. Once you’ve done that first story section and your in verdant brink then masteries will unlock. You then go to your mastery panel (bottom right corner of your experience line) and select the mastery for gliding. You then do events and kill mobs in verdant brinks until the mastery line is completely filled out (the same way that leveling fills out your experience bar until you reach the next level). Once it’s filled up you take the mastery point you got for doing that story section and assign it to gliding. That will give you basic gliding.

Central Tyria has it’s own mastery lines. You need to select a mastery line to fill up for that area and get mastery points to assign to it.

The mastery lines and mastery points are rather like experience and skill points. You have to level with experience and then assign skill points to get skills and traits.

To find out what gives mastery points check your achievement panel. Achievements with red stars give Tyrian mastery points and achievements with green stars give heart of thorns mastery points.
