Every day I spend and hour or so farming the spider event in the middle of the map at Ruins of Ore for crafting mat’s to sell for money on the TP. Every day I see the same botter’s spamming thier aoe and limiting my loot intake. Every day I use the report feature on them.

Additionally, Every day when I log in my inbox has at least 2 or 3 messages from gold sellers. And lastly every time I visit rata sum the map chat is filled with gold seller spam. I use the report feature every time i get spam mail or every time i see them spamming in map chat and still they continue.

Last week I purchased some gems from the trading post and then sold those gems for gold on the trading post. The black lion trading post prices were outrageous compared to what these gold sellers are offering thier wares for. Can I buy gold from them instead, its nearly half the price of the trading post? It just seems that nothing is being done about it as i see the same botters and spammers every day so can i use thier services and not get in trouble?

I dont want my account banned or anything, so thats why I am asking. I would like a reply from someone at anet so I will know FOR SURE yes or no.

Nope, you cannot.
No game that I know of allows players to buy from gold sellers.

Like already said, it for one is illegal and on top of that by purchasing gold from them you’re basically offering them to hack your account

See those guys with names like Lord Killsalot standing around going “buy cheapist gold best srvece xyz dot c0m pwr leviling hand famring”

That used to be someone who thought it was a good idea too. Now someone else uses their accounts to lure in stupid people.

1: log into gold seller’s website
2: gold seller hacks your account
3: you lose your gw2 account
4: friends see “you” advertising gold spammer website
5: mysterious charges appear on your cc statement

Not a good deal unless you like spending $60 on a game you can’t play.

LOL, how is it illegal and how is it offering them to hack your account? It is against the TOS and cause for permanent ban, aka loss of your account to ANet. The gold selling will be addressed as best as the company can and it will probably never be sufficient to compete with foreign markets attempting to sell you goods. Doing anything against the TOS cannot be advocated openly so doing so should be considered at your own risk.

1: You don’t log into anyone’s site with GW credentials. XD
3: Yes, ANet will ban you if your’e caught breaking the TOS. Don’t do it.
5: No reason to assume this will ever happen.

I’m not talking about Arenanet. The people behind the gold selling are criminals who prey on stupid people who use the same login info and/or are stupid enough to download infected software and use it to steal their “customers” accounts.

Typical gold seller accounts are named random things like “Xuvspr” while stolen accounts are more like “Bob the Mighty.” Bob was a very foolish person who bought gold from Mr. Xuvspr and now Mr. X is using Bob’s account to lure in more people.

Not long ago I actually recognised a gold seller’s name, it once belonged to a player I saw in the starting area when I made a new toon… it was a misspelling of a common word and caught my eye because of that. A few days later, now he’s hawking a gold selling website in Lion’s Arch.

Most of the gold sellers I’ve seen in the game have been stolen accounts. It’s baffling why people would do this when they can easily make money just by doing what they have been doing – playing the game. Now they are out the cost of the game and whatever time and frustration spent trying to regain control of their stolen accounts.

1: People do use the same credentials though and end up losing their accounts to the gold sellers.
Anet have been trying to tell people not to spread the same credentials around but new hacked accounts show up every day because far too many players are careless.

My homeworld is Blackgate.
I am a GW2 player in New Zealand.
Check me out on the GW2 wiki.
