This is something really annoying,

I am getting numerous ingame mails of people advertising their gold selling websites.
They’re really getting on my nerves, I don’t want to buy gold nor do I wish to be able to.

But as of yet I have found no way to stop them from mailing me, I have tried ignoring them but since they use different accounts this is a no go.

Does anyone have tips for me to use?
And is there a way to report these kind of issues, since the ticket is only for bug report.

Any tips or help is welcome.

I would like to see the in game mail monitored on a very low level by GW2 staff. If it contains something in the body that tips them off to Gold buying? Have a human review it and flag the account that sent it. Ban them permanently next time.

There’s no option to add to blocklist or report directly from the mail I think but an option would be to add them to your friendlist, rightclick them there and choose “block” and “report”.
Luckily I didn’t receive any of those mails yet but I saw in total 3x since launch some goldseller in /m chat, 2 of them were banned really fast as I only saw the message 1x but yesterday in Heart of the Mist (Far Shiverpeaks server) there was one spamming for at least an hour even though many reported him. Guess the GMs were busy at the time

From the game status update page:

“We’ll add an option to report an account for sending spam or otherwise inappropriate in-game mail. Edit: This option will be added in tomorrow night’s update, not tonight’s update.”

LOL I’ve sent so many chat reports and in-game tickets about this very thing. It is very annoying. I’m tired of creating tickets about these people. They probably get banned, but then come back as a new person because it’s so profitable maybe?
Here’s a couple screenshots of the ones I got today.

What I’ve been doing is opening up the Contacts and searching for the player, then reporting their actual name for “Scamming”.

I thought exactly the same, they should add an automated system, it shouldn’t be to hard because they can also add a profanity filter.

I’ve been very supprised about the gold selling mail. i assumed since Anet was selling it’s own gold that these groups would not exist anymore. It seems they are the ones buying the gems and selling us the gold?

Been getting gold sellers in the mail as well.

So far have not seened ANET combating these goldsellers, who most likely have KEYLOGGERS waiting for the fool to login into thier sites and then the fool gets hit with the keylogger and the fool gets thier accounts hacked…

That’s kind of a drawinian aspect of the game isn’t it. A-net sells you gold and it’s pretty safe. Gold sellers buy the gems off A-net trades for gold and sells it to some dumb guy, then steals his account. Had this guy just bought the gems from A-net in the first place he’d be fine!

seriously though A-net has a lot more to do right now than deal with the gold sellers. We the community need to stop buying from them as we don’t have to anymore.

Yeah, I really hope they make an effort to get rid of these people because I have seen them ruin a lot of other games.

They did by now, but what is the correct option Spam or Scam?

Technically they are not scamming you. Just flag it as spam.

I use Spam.

Also, this should be expected in any new game. Every new (major) game has this problem, yet every development studio seems to ignore ways to combat the spam/gold selling until release.

I **** **** their web server. Send me the web address for the site and if I haven’t gotten to it already (believe me when I say I have crushed at the least 7 different sites now), I will GLADLY ^-^ All these people will do is create a new account/ toon, as the game online is free to play, it’s even a bigger incentive for them to spam mail people. I honestly do not know the algorithm they use to interpret who gets the in-game mail yet. (Maybe an inside job… :P) Anyhow, send me those website addresses to annihilate, PLEASE!

Why not give us, the players, the option of willingly becoming part of a botnet that is used to DDOS the websites of gold sellers, who cannot be taken offline through legal methods, due to their geographical location giving them immunity to this?

Surely if they are immune to legal threats from specific locations, then they cannot in return make legal threats against anyone from those locations who may be DDOSing them.
