Guild Wars 2

I recently got an Mesmer to level 80 and well, found out the hard way that I can’t really tag all that well in DE’s, and finding Dungeon parties as a Mesmer is hard to do, and Farming spots are few and far between, so I come to you guys/gals in the hopes of finding a class that on average can do well at those three things, along with a few others.

Beyond those three things, I need a resilient class that can deal with solo gameplay, level at a decent clip (Get through hearts, personal story, ect.), and offers a bit of a challenge to learn to play well, so I don’t get bored.

I don’t have any real preferences when it comes to Melee vs. Ranged so that doesn’t matter, as long as those options are a smart choice.

And as you guessed this character will be STRICTLY for PvE/Dungeons/Farming and similar content.

hmm, if you don’t have any preference (especially melee vs ranged), i strictly play a Guardian and i do exactly that, PvE, dungeons and farming Orr. also some WvW. the class is pretty versatile, and you can spec for survivability without losing out on too much DPS, i.e. can still kill stuff and see high sustained dmg. i personally play with a hammer, but GS does seem to be able to kill faster.

in terms of farming, if you specc for high crit, which i would recommend as a Guard, the staff #1 alone hits up to 5 mobs in a close to 180 degree cone in front of you. i just circle strafe and spam that and get enough hits / tags. you can also always drop a symbol (does dmg over time) right where you know th emobs will congregate you can get a lot of hits in that way too.

the hammer and GS also do very good PBAoE useful for tagging if you feel the staff isn’t doing enough dmg. but it’s good enough for me : ))

I’d also like to hear more opinions on this, as I am also a Mesmer.. sure, we have PvP, and survivability, but nothing where it counts for getting gold or gear. I’ve been slowly leveling an Engineer for this but I’m not positive if that’s the best choice or not, and I’d prefer to just level up the >best<, most efficient tagging/farming/dungeon class there is.

If you’re having trouble on a mesmer, you’re doing it wrong.
Mantras, Sword/pistol, and a staff to tag mobs in AoE for events.

Seriously though, everyone can do everything in this game. It’s on a stupid level of easy, and if you’re having trouble, it’s because you’re likely doing something wrong.

GS number 4 is best for tagging mobs. On mez and yes we do have a lower ability to tag mobs.

However the rest dont make sense to me, of what you said.

I do dgns for gold and gear, I got full culture which is 110g about.

Also spent about 40g more on other items all together.

So I’ve made plent of gold in no time on mez.

Farming Dungeons, and my Mez build is great for dgns. So much that I been invited to multy guilds that focus on dungeons alone. Also get tons of whisper form long list of friends all the time to go dgning with them. Because they love to dungeon with me, because my build is extremly powerful in dgns.

I’m a tank/cc, mobs almsot never touch my team. Build so good I can tank most boss’s with no probs at all.

Because of that Dub my theif friend 2 men dgns and we started to record it and put it on youtube.

So sorry but Mesmers should not have a hard time getting into dgns. When their a freaking awesome builds for it.

Before anyone say MEz cant CC,

They got a wider range then anyone else.

More reflex skills then anyone, they got multy skills for taking away debuffs and giving buffs. They got a good 3 aoe pull skills(so pulling all mobs into one area)
They got good cripple skills and immb skills for more CC.

All around the Mez got tons of CC skills, would not doubt if it more then any other class.

So if ya spec for tanking and get the right tank traits. You can also tank like crazy.

Well because of this I make tons of money, with no problem.

Maybe this needs to be clarified:
In an event zerg: Chaos Storm, tab through targets and spam mantras on waves of attackers. Distortion bombing and pistol spamming are your friends, the idea is to simply tab to as many different enemies as possible.

Dungeons. Every dungeon in this game is a simple matter of spiking down every target as fast as possible. To that end, the sword, with it’s vulnerability on auto-attack, and immunity to all damage through Distortion, removing the need of any defensive stats, is your friend. Against bosses, simply spike with mantras, and use attacks 1-4.

Also, Time Warp. Nothing like doubling the damage of your entire party for 10 seconds.

I dont agree with the dgn part at all, yes some paths in dgn are so easy it like that.

But even then groups get tons of downs when they just aim for that.

IN my groups we dont even get one down no matter the dgn, in arah are anything.

Well not 100%, but close.

I enjoyed event farming on my ranger, shortbow with traited piercing arrows has a fast rate of fire and arrows hit multiple targets, I also used traps for utilities with trap master traited to make the traps larger and ground targeted.

I’ve switched my farming character to a guardian, and staff + greatsword is fantastic for multiple mob tagging

i use my main (ele). dual dagger, fire dmg, does enough burst in 45 seconds to be able to walk away and still get gold, sometimes.
