I want to roam in WvW and I narrowed it down to warrior, thief, or ranger but I can’t decide which to level, so which class is best at dueling and can do well in pve? My highest level character is my warrior but I hear that it got nerfed recently and it sucks in pvp. Thanks.

I don’t think any profession can be considered absolute best, especially in roaming where there is lots of build variety. Every profession has several good builds, some are easier to master, some are not.
A good player can make any profession “the best” for him.
All 3 you mentioned are very good for both roaming and dueling.
I’m not much of a pve player, but from what i’ve seen warrior and thief are top choices, and ranger is also pretty good if you play it correctly.
I would suggest going for what you enjoy playing the most.

crochip is correct in saying that their is no top roamer and most classes can be made to work.

With that being said i think that thief is top roamer and her is why…
Mobility: No class in the game has the mobility that thief has. short bow gives you 900 range ports with low cooldown.
Stealth: Thief is the master of stealth. and the reason this can be a make or break is WvW is due to the fact that most ppl travel in blobs of 40 or more ppl. Nothing helps you get away better than stealth.
Build Effectiveness: Thief has one of the top builds for both heavy DPS and Condi specs.

Dont get me wrong, i am totally bias on the whole thing bc i play thief as one of my mains. Other classes can do just as well in terms of dps and condition damage. but no class has it better interms of mobility or stealth. GL with w/e you decide

For pure roaming I like running my warrior with high mobility and some damage resistance to give me time to get the heck out of dodge if things get too hot.

Thief is good if you’re hunting players or sneaking around to take objectives without noticing. The only problem I’ve found with thief is that the builds that are most effective at taking objectives are weak vs. players, and vice versa.

If you’re wanting to both fight players AND flip camps effectively you’ll have to switch your build around on the fly a lot.

UNLESS someone else knows a thief build that is both good vs. supply camps AND 1v1’ing.

Ranger I can’t think of what I would do with it roaming solo. I feel like ranger is great in a small team though.

D/P thief can easily solo a camp and snipe players. Maybe not as fast at taking camps as other classes but roaming to me is more about fights and less about taking objectives. GS high mobility War can be a serious roamer as well tho. Ranger when roaming… i think you want to play as a stealth trapper or full glass LB/GS.

Again tho it is all about what class feels the best to you bc all classes can be set up to roam.

Warrior is easy to learn, however not very fun IMO. Good duelist most of the time, but kind of predictable. good 1v1, sometimes 1vX.

Ranger is easy to learn, with a few fun builds (condi variants), Good duelist unless full zerk. good 1v1.

Thief is easy to escape with, but hard to play properly (unless you got the mindset), fastest but squishiest roamer, good 1v1.
