Good place to farm vets for Monthly

WvW the single flag guys
Fractals, WvW, events in high population zones. Those are going to be your best bets.
Gatherings of Oakhearts/Mosshearts/Pinesouls are usually good places for those. Greatheart Weald in Queensdale and Wychmire Swamp in Caledon Forest are two good places where several Veterans spawn.
Grendich Ruins in Diessa Plateau also has several Veteran ghosts, but they can be tricky to deal with as they all like attacking at once.
Aside from that, most maps have Veterans in fair numbers. For example, if you start from the SE corner of Kessex Hill and work your way N, you can find:
- Veteran Sea Scorpion (in Garrenhoff harbor)
- Veteran Ettin (atop a hill overlooking Garrenhoff)
- Veteran Bear (near the hole where Kari falls into)
- Veteran Cave Troll (at the end of the Collapsed Observatory jumping puzzle)
- Veteran Cave Spider (check inside the cave near the farm N of Garrenhoff)
- Veteran Cave Troll and Veteran Chromatic Ooze (inside the caves behind the waterfall near the vista)
- Veteran Bandit (near the Earthworks waypoint)
- Veteran Draithor’s Wurm (in Draithor’s Demenses)
Got my Veteran monthly kill the first night in one fractal.
Veteran Dire Boars in Queensdale near the hunting lodge are good.
Did mine in Fractals in about 2 runs, tons of vets and your team helps you with them.
more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the Ranger.
Become who you were born to be. I give hope to men. I keep none for myself.
I finished my monthly vet just by doing regular Peni/Shelter farm. Took me 6-8 hours total. By that time I have also 78 events done.
IMO this is the easiest Monthly so far. And LOL at condition applier. Took me whole 5 seconds to finish ^^ just by using Dagger Storm on 1 wave of mobs at Peni.
Thief/Necro/Guardian/Mesmer/Elementalist of SFR EU
Barely set foot in WvW before I had it done.
Gotta love that steamroll.
If you dont wanna go to fractals or WvW, best place is just 2 steps south of Twilight Arbor entrance where big wurm spawns. There are about 5 or so vets with very low hp and quick respawn.
Tekkit’s Workshop
Did it in couple of fractal runs.
Caledon forest there is a village with a cave inside full of veteran hyleks. It is the cave with tears of I… achievement.
Spider cave skillpoint in Wayfarer Foothills. 3 veterans with high respawn rate. There is also usually a node in there and you can also get the ambient slayer in there with the rats.
…fractals
Veterans were the first monthly category I’ve completed
fractals would be good place. if you don’t do fractals, just go to WvW and smack those sentries. you’ll get monthly event done as well if you manage to capture the sentry point..easy 2in1…..
Archeage = Farmville with PK
The forest in Queensdale where the champ oakheart event spawns . You’ll be killing 2 birds with one stone .
I got it in a few hours just by doing the world event chains leading to dragons and such.
Resident Thief
Got it in less than 30 mins in that Hylek cave in Caldeon Forest (sw of Falias Thorp waypoint, you just need to figure out the way to open the gate, which I will not spoil here :P).
What damny said. The cave in Caledon is full vet hyleks that respawn very fast and there is a chest at the end of the puzzle, too.
I go to Mount Maelstrom and use one of the portals to get to Dierdre’s Steps where I hunt vet earth elementals.
RIP City of Heroes
There are a few ghosts at Langmar Estate WP in Plains of Ashford that spawn very quickly… slow enough that you’re rarely overwhelmed, quick enough that you’re rarely waiting for the next one… great spot if you just want to grind ’em.
Yah, the mini dungeon at the Dengatl Grounds point of interest in Caledon. All the vets you could possibly want and then some. Fast respawn.
Phoenix, Damny, Astral, and now me. The list of Hylek Cave Vet Slayers is growing! You just have to toss a boulder at the gong outside to get in. As a bonus, you often must kill a vet to get at the gong.
You can’t get back out without solving the puzzle or using a waypoint, though.
Caledon forest there is a village with a cave inside full of veteran hyleks. It is the cave with tears of I… achievement.
This. Near the back of the Dengatl Grounds point of interest there is a closed gate. Pick up a boulder and throw it at the gong, the gong will sound and the gate will open. The area behind the gate has probably 10 – 15 veteran Hylek inside. They do respawn.
Sorrows Furnace
The following location has 5 to 6 veterans right in one small area in PvE.
They can all be killed in about 5 minutes total; shouldn’t be longer than that.
Tjegra: 80 Norn Necromancer
Mefitic: OTW to 80 Asura Necromancer

You should really consider changing which mapping site you use…like to one that has been updated this year. I like the following as it is always updated the day of a patch but there are others out there…
@ BioFringe
Thanks for the input; but I don’t think it really matters given the location that I picked hasn’t changed since launch…

Sure, for that one specific location. I’m just giving you a heads up for future reference.
And just for the sake of argument here are some quick stats on how far off Cartographers is…
Divinity’s Reach (-1 WP, +3 POI)
Lion’s Arch (+2 POI, +6 Vistas) <— Cart shows 6 Vistas that don’t exist!
Harathi Hinterlands (+5WP, +5POI, +3 Skills, +2 Vistas)
That’s just 3 locations and you can already see that Cart shows way more stuff that doesn’t even exist and is even missing stuff that does exist. I used to love this site but it’s not that it’s a bad site, just that it hasn’t been updated in over 5 months now. Really wish it would have been kept up.
EDIT: Also note that I simply pointed the discrepancies out and suggested another mapping site since a lot of folks that come to this part of the board might see others using Cartographers and think that it’s the one to use. Just saying. Peace.
