Guild Wars 2

I just invited my GF to play GW2 with me. She don’t have much experience in gaming but she’s a very fast learner. ( Actually we just moved from our previous game after months of playing)

Myself also can be considered as a noob for GW2 as well since i haven’t play it after first two months. (maybe 2 yrs ago)

So PVE should be very enjoyable for us.

But i need some advices here.
1. What is the good duo class for PVE (she want to play mes/ele)
2. For WvW what are classes that often stick or work together in the big group?

Because she want to play with me even we are in the big group versus, so we both might be dps but i think it might be hard for PVE.

The last thing i wonder is about the quest? I can’t remember that can we play a quest together? or we just need to do our personal quest/story individually, anyway to leveling together?

class choice doesn’t matter. play which class you like using.
but I would recommend 1 melee tank and 1 ranged dps. and have 1 that gives boons and 1 that applies conditions.

if not guardian which class is capable of giving boons? i played guardian 2 years ago and this is great chance to try others lol.

1. Ele creates lots of fire fields and Warrior can use them well. That is a good combo.
2. Gaurdian works will with just about anything. Everybody loves getting those boons.
3. You can play together in the story, but it will only progress the person who started it. So yes, you can play together. My suggestion is that you two choose different races, or at least different paths so that the first 20 levels of story are different. Then choose different orders so the next 10 or so are different. After that, it is mostly the same story but you can choose different missions. If you do this, doing the story twice (once for her and once for you) won’t be so bad.

Well, to start, almost every profession can work together well with another. Almost everyone can lay down combo fields that any others can use. Most professions offer some sort of group support that can be benefical for anyone.

As for WvW. It’s basically a big group running around, so any profession that can bring something to a group is useful, which is pretty much every one.

DPS in PvE is almost a must for any profession. Most boss and mob mechanics work in such a way that any and all damage can be avoided though active defenses (i.e. dodging).

The heart quests can be done together, but each character only adds to their own completion. So if you are doing a heart quest that you’ve already done, anything you do to complete it won’t add to her completion. The personal story can be done together, provided you are in a party together. Now depending on the story options you both chose in character creation, those missions will be different. You can still help her and she you, but you won’t get the story rewards from doing her missions.

Leveling together? Sure, just make sure you are exploring the same areas together, doing the same heart quests together, and killing the same mobs together and you’ll be fine.

Recent got my GF to play, and she wanted to play a mesmer, so I rolled one up as well, to better understand the profession to help her better. I main a lvl 80 war, have an 80 necro, and also working on a Elementalist.

Every class can give boons. Also, every class has fields and finishers that can give boons. Eles are my favorite for group play, we have fire fields and blast finishers for might stacking which means we are usually in demand.

Wvw seems to always be in need for portal mesmers, especially those who can stay hidden for long periods of time. As an ele in wvw I sometimes feel like a suicide bomber. Its still fun though.

When my wife and I started this game(2 months after initial release) we had a heck of a fun time with her playing an ele and me playing a ranger.

Me and my BF plays together. It was me inviting him to the game. We picked whatever class we liked and the same for race. It started with him picking a norn warrior and me a charr ranger (by now we have tried out most “class-combos”). We met in the world as soon as possible since we picked different races And u can play instances together too, just party up and be on the same map. Participating in each others different stories can be quite interesting Have fun together and enjoy the adventure u share!

I highly recommend AGAINST making a tank build for PvE. This game uses dodging and abilities to avoid damage rather than trying to soak up damage. Learning how to avoid damage from the start will be better in the long run than relying on soaking damage, you may die a bit more while learning though.

As for classes, both mesmer and elementalist are good in PvE. In WvW, ele is a better fighter in large zergs and mesmer is usually just there for portal/stealth. Mesmer is great in small groups though.

Just forget the whole PvE and zerging nonsense. You should take her to do some small scale WvW, see if she can tear enemies apart and save your rear end in a situation where you two are horribly outmanned. If you two survive and beat the group, you should log off after looting all the shiny bags and marry her. That’s all.

P.S. Buy her a llama finisher. It will make her very happy.

With regards to doing quests together:

You guys can complete heart quests together no problems.

With story quests, you can do them together and both get credit for it as long as your current mission is exactly the same. This depends on the decisions you make while creating your character and the starting race (class has no influence however). So if you guys want to do story quests together make sure that you guys make the same decisions when given the options.

Me and my gf just finished completing all the story quests together (charr warrior and guardian) so I will tell you now that some of the later story quests may bug and only give credit to 1 person in which you will have to do it again for the other person.

Nice to hear about all the couples playing together, my GF and I also do this. I think everything I would say has been said, so I will leave it at that.

I play with my girlfriend too. We have a bunch of different characters, so we just play whoever we feel like playing at the time. Currently she’s mostly on her Ele while I’m on my Warrior.

1: strip dungeons.. everytime someone dies, remove a piece of clothing.
2: Shot thru the Heart: everytime you die in WvW you must drink a shot
3: Level for Love: everytime you level, other must give you something zone appropriate: EG: 10 Ancient Woods (hehe) for a level in Cursed shore
the list is endless. Think of fun RL scenarios you can play out for certain achievements.

I was going to suggest something similar but I thought better of it (family friendly and all) and was only going to suggest a smooch every time either of you complete one of the daily achievements.
