Ok so I have this greatsaw weapon skin that I USED to have on my main warrior, but i used a transmutation splitter to get it off of him and onto one of my alts. I now want to delete this alt to make room for another character, because I can’t afford a transmutation splitter or a character expansion slot at the moment.

My question is: if I store the greatsaw in the bank right now, and delete the character, will I be able to split it later, even though the character that the weapon is currently soulbound to is gone?

No. In order to take a soulbound item out of the bank, you need to use the character it’s bound to. If the character no longer exists, the only thing you can do is delete the item.

You can transmute the skin onto a white item, it should become account bound, allowing you to move it between characters. But as long as it’s soulbound to a character you need to keep that character around.

You won’t be able to remove anything soul-bound from the bank, and use it, except with the character it is soul-bound to. You can, however, destroy soul-bound items in the bank with another character.

As has been mentioned you can use a transmutation crystal on the item to make it account bound, then throw it into the bank. People have been doing this to move otherwise soulbound items since game launch, getting Necro starting masks onto Ele, or different order armors onto their main for example. Would work with your Greatsaw as well.
