Grabbing aggro
No. The red circle indicates enemy aoe attacks. You should leave it.
[SPQR]
Not really. The red circles indicate that a mob is preparing to use a skill in the area of the circle (ie attack). It doesn’t mean you necessarily have aggro. Could be that someone near you has aggro, for example, but the skill being used is an AOE skill.
Either way, best to get clear asap. Most of the time you will have a second or two when the red circle appears to get out of the way.
Wish there were some type of indicator(s) as I’m running around Tyria being chased by Shrieksy.
k, ty for the info
Yeah. I have little idea how aggro works here even after a year and a half. There will be times I’m down at the edge of his range attack and the champ will still focus on me rather than the three guys whacking him with swords. I guess he really doesn’t like caltrops.
RIP City of Heroes
There’s 2 types of red circle that can be around your character, the red AOE circle that everyone has already explained to you and the Reticule(FPS style) circle that is ONLY around your character and follows you around, occasionally you’ll see it around the enemy as well if it has been targeted by a team mate.

Lol.
Mobs do tend to zero in on anyone who is downed and the people trying to help them up, that much is certain.
But otherwise, it’s really difficult to know how it works, isn’kitten I sometimes pull aggro to me, only to find the mob randomly ditches chasing me and heads off towards some other person not even attacking it. Other times, like you describe, it will charge at me while it has at least three others standing in the way.
At best, I can only assume it’s randomised in the code or something.
