Green light instant death
A side-effect of the marinette world event not killed in time.

They failed to kill the marionette. Instant death for everything and everyone.
Must say that is a bit ridiculous. I was not doing the meta event. There’s me minding my own business, mugging grawl, doing the task – then wham, dead.
I guess this can encourage other players to go and help in the event, since the usual wipe in this place is to not have enough people due to Full map (and new people is moved to overflows). If there is some groups doing another stuff around instead of killing this machine they’re kinda blocking access to the map to the ones willing to go and kill this big machine.
So… let’s call it karma. Not helping? dead xD.
(I know, not fair, but i can’t think in anything else of why this happens)

This is really the most idiotic type of game design i have ever seen.
Why do game designers not learn that random one-hit kills are NOT FUN and also not challenging or whatever .. they are just plain stupid and frustrating because a random death is no challenge when you have no chance to do anything against it.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

That death isn’t supposed to be the challenge… the challenge is to prevent it by succeeding in the event. Personally I like it that failing it actually has a big consequence for everyone, and I kinda expected Tequatl to do that (kill everyone) if you failed to defeat it instead of just flying away.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
This is why I don’t bother with PvE.
What sort of challenge is fighting fake monsters that just attack you face on with no subtlety, no avoidance, just massive hitting power and ludicrously large health pools?
Now I hear it’s a one-shot death for everyone in the zone whether you’re doing the event or not?
lmao.

Yeah .. to make the whole zone even more of a desert since nobody would even explore it anymore. Why not kill also everyone in the whole world ? How could people just stay around in LA when elswhere in the world a bossfight fails ?

Make it an achievement. Call it: “I was minding my own business when…”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

There was something like that in WoW.
The big bad dragon would randomly kill players in the world – you got an Achie for it.
Hmmmm… can’t remember his name – was it Deathwing?

The problem I have with this argument is that I had not explored enough of Lornars Pass to get to the event, yet when the event failed I was struck down from above like the wickedest blasphemer in days of yore.
I was gone before the big bad dragon, so I would not know lol
I think all NPC’s should die as well at least. grin

It was Deathwing and the achievement was ‘Stood in the Fire’ Instant death if you happened to be in the zone when he went over it.
Ironically there was a bug which meant that a few people actually survived the attack, I managed it myself on one character, not quite sure how, shame there wasn’t an extra achievement for that.

Of course if you’re not level 80 and instead an appropriate level range for that zone to be a challenge, you’d be a detriment by trying to help and getting owned on the platforms… Just really bad design choices all around.
yes the marionette has Instant death I wish we had that kind of skill almost makes me wonder if we’ll ever see the marionette again after Scarlet is done with oh well
