Guardian or Warrior ( Main PVE Toon )
both guardian and warrior are great classes for pve. id just go with whichever you have more fun playing. There arent TOO many times that you need a ranged weapon in pve outside of some bosses in dungeons/fractals so I wouldnt use ranged ability as your guiding factor. But you should look at what your goals are in pve. If you want to do high level fractals id say a guardian would be more in demand than a warrior. simply because I feel they bring more utility to the fight than most of the warriors I’ve played with.
Both? Well… I have both, maybe first then the other later? I’d rather take my guard to dungeons, but warrior is in greater demand. But guard is still in demand for dungeons, especially where warr may go down a lot. So if you want to speed run dungeons for gear and fast gold, warrior. Guard if your expectations are higher, harder encounters and more quality drops. You can do it with most any class (some builds), but you will just have more flexibility and demand with a guard for challenging situations.
Outside of dungeons, warr is not so great for wvw/spvp. I hear guard does fine in wvw (certain builds), not sure about spvp, though I’ve never done either with my guard or warr (mainly wvw my thief – or engi at times). But I like warr for mete events, though guard just as much, although war has better ranged so high populated mete’s I’d favor the warr.
Guard has staff, which means run speed. You gathering, you will have a much better time with it on a guard, including tanking through hostile areas (cursed shores np). You can sell what you collect, use it or save it up. I’d say save it up, because between two crafts on your warrior later while leveling him/her, that’s 20 quick levels (10 each craft). Or do one craft as you lvl your guard, such as armorer or weapons that will benefit lvling your warrior later as having good gear makes things much easier. Of course you can just speed run with the warrior and buy all the resources.
So it probably comes down to guard having more game play options while warr being in higher demand for dungeon speed runs. But apart from wvw, either are fine in any case and comes down to just what you like best.
btw you can trait guard to be less or no real support to a group and zerg with the class. Or even balance between the two (closer to my build). It’s just support builds are more common. Warriors have more support options now too.
Edit: oh yeah but really, your warr is 70, 70-80 is easy. I’d say at around 73 make your way to cursed shore, play some ping-pong there (tunnels) and you will finish up in no time while farming in a group (bring at least a lvl 70 rare weap). Of course that’s just to 80, then it’s a lot of work gathering your exotics, and in multiple sets. Alternatively, you could focus on your guard, start running AC post lvl35, buy full exotics from the AC vendor by the time you reach 80. AC you will nearly gain a full lvl per run to 1.5 runs. Plus you get dungeon exp which imo is a must for good guard practice.

For some reason even tho Im wearing Knight’s Armor and have full defense build, I still get squashed when in AC ( Story Mode ) or even when questing and there are more than 3 mobs on me. this is another reason I’m burned out on Warrior.

3+ mobs and loosing health? That’s usually when I bust out the hammer and start doing mad swings as I run circles around them lol
Though I do AC with my guard most of the time, my most re-used tip I spam again and again is “KEEP MOVING!” —apart from locking down a boss if we can stand still. I haven’t done AC CM since that patch, heard it’s harder, but should still be same principle. I know AC exp revamp made me move even more.
Oh and most that speed run (often CoF) are not doing it with a tanky warrior, it’s about dps.
hah! that reminds me when I first started using a hammer and figured about thr running in circles thing. I started doing that mete in hinterlands or whatever the zone is called. After the chain was done and everyone left, I went into that tent near by that after 10 or so minutes starts spawning tons of mobs that walk off to guard the chest area. I went in there and lasted until the next meta event came back lol, must have had 100’s of corpses piled up and all my bags full. My warrior started at two levels under the mobs. Hammer can be quite handy
