[Guide] Adventures: Silver, Gold, and beyond
I can already tell your list is flawed. It supposes that people are able to easily play with action camera, many of us find that camera mode unfamiliar and aggravating. It supposes that our computers handle 45 to 60 fps, many of us do not have computers that render frames that quickly. There are two things that are making me regret buying and playing this game, one of them is that anet gutted my endgame content. I demo’d the game in September, bought it in October, all on the promise of an interesting crafting system. They took away my motivation to even complete HoT. I was doing it for the legendaries. I still work on it occasionally, but every time I do an adventure all I can think is that I am doing it for only one weapon. I will only make one HoT legendary. I might very well quit the game after completing it. I already had invested literally 1000s of hours of game play to make that weapon.
I was literally in frustrated tears over getting silver in Fallen Masks. I had to buy a new graphics card in order to get the necessary FPS. My son is much more experienced in game playing than I am, he told me why I couldn’t get silver even after months of trying, it was because my computer wasn’t able to render frames quickly enough. I got silver within 30 minutes after that new graphics card was installed in my computer. My computer needs a new CPU if I am ever to finish the mastery lines in HoT.
When I installed this game anet told me my computer could handle it. I feel lied to. I also bought the expansion thinking it would be like the core game, that was a huge mistake. The adventures are some sadistic joke as far as I am concerned. I have 131 masteries, only a fraction of them are from core Tyrian content. I need 7 more masteries to buy the gifts to finish nevermore. I might as well need 100. I’ve attempted all of the adventures. I may be able to eke out 7 more after a few more months of trekking to the masteries when I can find them unlocked. I don’t think I am alone in my anger and frustration. The worst part about this is people may feel like they just aren’t good enough players, which isn’t the problem for many of us, it is our computers weren’t suitable for this content to begin with, and we were sold a product even though anet should have known it was wrong to do that to us. And before you recommend doing the story over to get achievements and masteries, some of the same problems in obtaining adventure masteries exist with doing those story achievements, speed challenges aren’t good if you have any sort of lag issue, it is a recipe for failure. Basically, we’ve been set up to fail, and nothing kittenes me off more than being set up to fail.
Actually, when I originally made this guide I had a terrible computer. I know what it feels like FIRST HAND, the exact lag you are talking about.
In each adventure under “Techniques and Other Difficulties:” I list where action camera and lag are problems. You are incorrect if you think I did not consider these things.
I get your frustrations, and I hope you can use my guide to make achieving your goals less frustrating.

I have only use action camera for Shooting Gallery. I don’t find it useful for anything else. I have found that it is very easy to get fooled into thinking a particular adventure is more challenging than it is. That is also why the advice/videos here is very helpful. Some of them are quite challenging but most aren’t, at least not for silver and silver is all you need. Possibly less if you aren’t going to make a HoT legendary.
I know anet nerfed some of these adventures, and I have gotten a few more golds and silvers as a result (actually got a silver in shooting gallery), but they really need to understand how thoroughly despised they are by many players. I wouldn’t have enjoyed such things ever, it reminds me of angry birds. The only time I play angry birds is when I am at the doctor’s office. I have to think because they didn’t want people to burn through their expansion they made these ridiculously horrible challenges to slow us down. That is probably going to cost them sales for their next expansion. I am really on the fence about buying that. I don’t have fun with this game. I have spent months on this and I hate it so much it almost hurts. Is that really how they want us to feel about their game? My son bought me gems for my birthday. I haven’t bought any for myself in months because I don’t want to throw good money after bad. One thing is for sure. I am waiting to buy the next expansion, and if there are gates like this in it, I won’t be buying.
I went ahead and used your guide. I got all of the masteries I needed for Nevermore. I just wanted to thank you for putting this up here. I haven’t changed my mind about adventures, mind you, but I am so happy to be done and grateful for the work you put into this guide.

Gratz on your Legendary! You’re more than welcome to your opinion, and I’m happy to hear my guide helped you accomplish your goals.
From the 5/17/2016 update:
- Adventure leaderboards will now show millisecond precision on player entries.
A neat little QoL update that I asked for a long time ago, and fitting now that the Leaderboards work as expected, but I’m surprised to see them go all the way to millisecond.
Thank you so much for your list of adventures with all the videos and rating. Much appreciated. I still need 12 Mastery points for the non-raid masteries, only 2 or 3 points left available from regular achievements, and I hope I can get enough silver to get them. I hate every second doing these adventures. I know you love them, but really, I hate every second I waste my time with them. In the videos, all looks so easy, but with some adventures, I don’t even get bronze. It’s so bad that the game forces this upon me.
What are your opinions on activities, and do you think they have much to gain from parts of the adventures system?
Activities are dead.
Sanctum Sprint record times: any checkpoints – 39.333, all checkpoints – 1:55.633
For my part, activities feel almost as bad as adventures. Now you bring up this topic, I feel they are some kind of team version of adventures. Similar general concept.
I visit activites only, if they are daily and the 3rd pve daily is worse in regard to time effort. Daily adventure is something I never visit.
As hater of both, I cannot see where activities have something to gain from parts of the adventure system. In the contrary, if similarities in design were removed from activities, they would be more appealing to me.
I feel sorry for my team mates, because I am the one who make them lose. The best is southsun survival, because here I can just immediately die and wait until it is over to get the daily achievement. There is no team to grieve. But these 5 minutes being dead is still better to waste 20 minutes with running behind some 4 events in Snowden Drifts or a world boss event that just happened without me.
If the daily achievement requires a win in the activity, I would skip them just like the adventures and rather get no 3rd daily achievement at all.
A few updates:
- I learned that the 4 skill Teleport in Beetle Feast is actually a chained skill, but it gets cancelled if you move or get hit. So you can use the teleport up to 4 times!
- For The Ley-Line Run you can assign the 2-skill as the auto attack to make things easier. There’s also an incredible 16.9 s run.
Thank you for making this guide it is very helpful. I really dislike that the adventures are part of the mastery system. I really dislike repeating them over and over to try and get mastery points that I need to make generation 2 legendary weapons and for progress in mastery lines. Please Anet do not make a similar system again where required things are hidden behind these side games.
A few updates:
– For The Ley-Line Run you can assign the 2-skill as the auto attack to make things easier. There’s also an incredible 16.9 s run.
One thing to add: It only works on my elementalist. Ranger, thief and necromancer can’t choose 2 as an auto-attack for some reason (at least for me).
And I’m working on a 14.9 second run :P. I’m already down to 15.8, but it’s becoming grindy. Improved the path once again. Found another shortcut but it needs perfect inputs. I’ll see if I can get down to sub-15.
On a side-note “On Wings of Gold”, “The Ley-Line Run” and “Flying Circus” are the only adventures where you can’t “cheat” with speed boosts (like hero banner, guild boosts, allies giving you swiftness) and items (like the teleportation gun and that jump rifle).
This should act as a tip for people having problems, you can use these little “helpers” to make it easier (sux for competition though). Anet cannot just remove them, because all of the current record times use some kind of item cheese (teleport to friend in races especially, and I’ve seen a sub-55s run on Fungus Among Us with items). They’d need to revamp the whole leaderboard, so I guess these “exploits” will be available for a while.

Cool! I have noticed that some of my records are depreciating much slower than the other ones :p
I’m p sure Bugs in the Branches is still cheese-free, and the records for Haywire Punch-o-matic and Scrap Rifle Field Test looks legit. It’s those ground-based race ones that have nonsense at the top of the leaderboard.
