Guild Wars 2

Hi. I’m an Officer in the guild Love & War on blackgate. recently one of our officers was hacked and the hacker looted her bank. She has opened a ticket but its been a week now and no response. We haven’t really faced a problem like this so I’m looking for advice on how to proceed. We have pictures of the bank logs, we a fair sum of gold, blueprints, and etcos. Does anyone know what we can do?

Sorry for your loss but I believe you are out of luck. Anet cannot restore anything stolen from guilds. You could try posting in the Account Issues forum (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account) or search it for similar cases but sadly I don’t think you will recover your goods.

Sorry, nothing you can do. While accounts can be rolled back to recover lost characters, gold and items, guild banks cannot. They are not tied to any account and if anything is stolen from them, it’s gone for good. Support either can not or will not help in this case.

For her particular case, if she hasn’t heard from support about her hacked account and still needs it returned or needs an account rollback still, she should check her junk and spam messages. Sometimes support emails go in there. If she can’t find her messages she can post her ticket number in this thread here or someone can post for her there if she doesn’t have access to the forum.

yeah this is the problem with guilds, there is literally no security or procedures in place for this kind of thing.

Anet has stated many times that Guild resources are NEVER going to be rolled back (or restored) for any reason.

Why would they do that? Blizzard was great about restoring things for guilds and players in a timely fashion.

I didn’t know Guild vaults can’t be restored. WTH, I keep most of my resources in my Guild vault. You know, with the word “vault” in it’s name, it should be more secured. That is secured from Anet’s on a technical level. If it glitches and somehow everything is gone, I expect it to be restored. For someone physically removing items, I don’t expect Anet to be able to discern whom is in the right to do so.

I sympathize with you Sarathiel, that nearly happened to us. But an aware guild member caugnt a chat about him ripping off another guild. So we stopped him before any damage was done.

Sarathiel’s situation is slightly different, Angelica. In her case, a guild officer’s account got hacked and the hacker decided to loot the guild bank in addition to everything on the officer’s account. Once the officer got her account back, an account restore could save her characters, but the contents of the guild bank are forever lost.

Just thinking of smt…would it be convenient to just add a kinda passphrase/password option before someone is entering a guildvault? a passphrase made up bij the guild’s council, so, in case of loss/hacked acounts, other guildmembers can change it asap?

(The mechanics are there already..think of deleting/destroying an accountbound item..before you can do that, you have to type the name of the object you want to delete/destroy.)

I have never heard of a game bug instance being PROVED to have lost items from a personal or guild vault via a bug (tho there are issues with guild inventory and resources lagging that have caused issues), so I’m not sure how it’s less secure (from a game bug perspective) than anything else on the GW2 servers.

While the support claims seem to indicate it’s not technically possible to roll back a guild vault, I suspect its very strict policy is more to prevent dupping scams (similar to the 1 rollback per account limit on personal storage).

I do think that they need to add some additional controls for guild bank access. We recently had a member leave the guild and he decided to take every single item out of the section he had access to before he left.

Other games I’ve played allowed a limit to be placed on a guild rank that controlled the number of items that can be withdrawn each day and that is a feature which is incredibly helpful with loss prevention.
