I’ve never used a guild bank before (because I’ve been concerned about safety etc). I have noticed that even after buying a lot of bank tabs, I’m still having trouble with bank space. Will it work if I just make a guild for myself only and then build the guild bank over time? Is there any concern about doing this? I would not represent my solo guild at any time except for when I am taking stuff from my guild bank or buying the influence/upgrades. I believe I heard a long time ago that this is dangerous and something about losing what’s in the guild bank if no one represents…dunno if I heard correct. Any thoughts on this idea?

Not sure about the losing stuff if no one represents, but just so you are aware, you can’t store account bound items in a guild bank, e.g. Bloodstone dust, which is clogging up my bank tab. Hope this helps.

Guild bank is a good alternative provided that you have lots of non soul/account bound stuff to put there. AFAIK there’s no danger to lose anything if you don’t represent, as long as you’re a member… however there’s a danger, if you’re the only member, if you use the “stand down” button, the guild will be disbanded and everything will be lost. Also, another limitation, guild bonuses (including the guild bank) are server bound, meaning that if you ever do a paid server transfer, the bank and everything in it will remain on your old server, you’d have to transfer back to get anything out.

You mean the “leave guild” button, don’t you?

You don’t need to represent the guild to keep the bank. I have a personal storage guild that I only ever represent when I’m putting stuff in the bank and it’s all still there when I swap back.

I’ve only heard about 2 ways you can loose everything in there:
1) Guilds with no members cease to exist, so if you’re the only member and you leave the guild will be gone and everything in the bank will disappear. There is no way to get it back if this happens.

You just need to be careful when switching which guild you represent that you don’t push the wrong button and leave the guild, but I’m pretty sure it gives you a warning first anyway.

2) Guild upgrades, including the bank, are server specific. So if you transfer to a new server you’ll still have your storage guild but you won’t have any access to the bank and will need to make a new one. You won’t be able to access the original bank after transferring, even if you guest back to your original server.

If you do want to transfer make sure you take everything out of your guild bank first and put it in your actual bank or your character’s inventory. Then re-make the guild bank and put it all back in.
