Hello!
Thought I compile some tips or FAQ to help all those new players. If you think this thread is missing something or something is wrong, post below!
Common Tips:
- You Travel for Free using waypoints in the city.
- You Can store your collectible(Crafting materials) from your bag by right clicking it, or clicking the gear button on the top right of your inventory
- To split items, hold alt then drag it to an open slot
- Shift+left click will link an item, waypoint, POI, or skill in chat
- Can’t find the banker? No problem go to a crafting station and check out the bank tab
- In a party and need to communicate by showing them on the map? You can hold shift to draw lines and shift click to ping
- Hold Ctrl to see all names, actions, and crafting nodes
- Ctrl + Right mouse click a skill to set it as your default auto-attack
- Red bar under your skill means you’re out of range.
- After finishing an heart quest, the NPC with the heart will become a Karma Vendor, Check them out!
- Wondering if that armor your looking at in the shop is cool? Right click it and preview it on your character!
- Dye your armor by pressing H, then click the color dropper
- You can join someone’s party by right clicking their picture on the top of the screen
- Tired of accidentally selling your exotic to a merchant when you meant to sell a junk item? Click “Sell all junk” near the bottom of the window!
- Darn UI is in the way when I’m trying to take a picture of my awesome character! No worries just hold shift and hit printscreen
- Killing monster in downed states rallies you and brings you back up and when attacking multiple monsters, bring each one of them to low hp, rather then kill one by one, so that if your down, take out the low hp and your back up!
- All gathering nodes on the map refresh for your character meaning if you see someone mining an ore, it won’t affect you and you can mine it as well
- Turn in auto-loot in options, so you don’t have to individually click the items
FAQ:
- How do I get to sPvP? You can press H and choose the last tab on the left and click “Go to Hearts of the Mist”
- How do I get into WvW? Press b and on the top, you can click join WvW and pick your borderland
- What are the chat commands and how do I dance? Check them out here and dance is /dance

- How Do I Change my PvP Loadout? You can talk to the vendors to purchase from them. It’s Free! Don’t forget to add the upgrades onto them as well.
- How Do I Craft? Talk to one of the master craftsman (They have the crafting symbol on the map) and choose learn disciplines. You can have up to 2 disciplines at once, I know I was blown away by this too.
- Why is my character not wearing any clothes!? Calm down! It probably means your armor is broken! Go talk to a person with a broken heart on the map or buy a repair kit from the gem store
- Can I hide this hideous headpiece and shoulder piece? Yes! Just click H and uncheck the boxes where your headpiece and shoulder piece are
- Why can’t I do anything to this Copper ore? Silly you! You can’t mine without a pickaxe! Go get your gathering supplies from a merchant or master craftsman
- I’m stuck! I 100% my starting map and the next level map is too hard for me, what do I do? Check out the other race’s starting areas! That could help you level and move on to harder maps
- OMG I found an exploit! Should I tell everyone and abuse it?! Sure if you want to get banned
Go report it at exploits (at) arena (dot) net
More Tips: (Separated so it isn’t a long block of text)
- Every character, regardless of crafting discipline can equip an Mining Pick, Logging Axe and Sickle at the same time.
- If you venture into a location without any Points of Interest, Skill Points, Waypoints or Renown, chances are ArenaNet has hidden something interesting nearby, from amazing jumping puzzles, challenging enemies and usually a reward at the end. Explore, people!
- The more people are within the vicinity of a Dynamic Event, the more difficult the Event will be, which usually means more enemies, hence more experience and loot. So don’t be shy about announcing to the map of the Event, e.g. /map Event near [Waypoint Whiskey]
- You can access & search the GW2 Wiki from in-game chat by typing:
/wiki (whatever you’re looking for)
ex. /wiki exp or /wiki xp or /wiki experience
