0 minis at the moment. I need to wait 1 year for my first mini?

For free, yes (besides the black moa chick).
You can buy them from other players, check in Kamadan and Lion’s Arch, many of them are really cheap, specially the year 1 and year 2 minis.

EDIT: Look for the next year’s Canthan New Year, completing it gives a guaranteed celestial mini.
