Hey Guys,

We ( me and my wife ) recently bought GuildWars Platinum Edition for HoM Points.

So Platinum edition has Guild Wars game and Guild Wars: Eye of the North. So we got our first 3 points.

I know there is a a lot of guides there and we searched all of em from google but they all needs other sets. But we don’t have those and it seems 30 points ( at least for now ) can be done without any other.

But i must say we are pretty lost atm so no idea what to do where to go etc, so you know how can be done easily if you have no idea whats going on.

Anyway if you know the way with Platinum Edition , or link for guide for it or any tips will be legendry.

Thank so much for your time and million kudos if you can help us somehow.

Yes thanks Esplen i saw that before and its already at on top of my to-do list atm but dunno where to start.

Everyone talking about how its easy to get 30 points with Platinum Edition. Some of em telling it matter of couple days. But can’t find a real guide out there at least for now and maybe cuz we are just newbies on that game atm.

Anyway seems firstwe need to play the game for learning process since that list sadly doesn’t ring a bell.

People saying how easy it is probably did it when there were lots of player resources about and were not new and had lots of platinum.

Without factions and nightfall I feel it will be a struggle to get 30 points, and a couple of days for someone new to the game isnt very realistic.

You are going to have to finish the main prophecies campaign and al bonus objectives, this can take… a while….,

Then the weapons for the HoM……,

you have access to destroyer and oppressor weapons with the platinum edition…. no tormented…

Then hero’s…… you only have access to eotn’s hero’s which isnt alot in terms of HoM points …

Oh and the armor needed for the hero’s isnt exactly… easy to get…
EOTN itself is pretty easy to finish though so easy points there…

Exotic armor is going to be hard too as at least 2 sets come from factions and 2 maybe 3 sets from nightfall…

And for someone new… they cost alot of plats….

But you are really limited as to how you get the points..

One other thing, the main place to trade is Kamadan NA districts.
Without Nightfall u wont have Kamadan outpost.
Buying things will be nearly impossible then since trading in LA is nearly dead.
(Before Kamadan, LA outpost was the main trading place.)

@azazil, If u need some help with GW1, PM me here or cantact me in GW2.
Then we can see when i can help in GW1.

I’d recommend starting out by completing the main campain and the Eye of the North storyline. I’d also recommend starting on Eye of the North as soon as you’re level 20 (maybe even a bit before) because then you’ll have some heroes, which makes the main story missions much easier.

That will get you a few things to add to the Hall, but more importantly it will let you learn the game, which will hopefully mean the rest of the list makes more sense and you’ll have a better idea of what you can realistically achieve.

As a long-time GW1 player I can tell you the list of how to get 30 points with limited campains looks relatively easy for a new player to do. It won’t be quick because you’ll need to do some farming and/or saving up, but there’s nothing on there that’s likely to be horribly complicated.

But I know what you mean about it not making sense. I think all games are like that at first. I remember when I first looked at the extras for the GW2 digital deluxe edition, thinking “Yeah ok, no idea if a ring of +2 whatever is good, or if I’d want extra ‘glory’ or ‘influence’.” I think I was playing for a week before I had any idea what they did.

It is DOABLE not easy. Certainly not easier than with all campaigns. I know one person who did this starting a month before launch and finished around a week after launch. That was done with a fairly unreasonable amount of play time(your job for the next month or so is to play GW1). That was with support from people who have been playing it for years(fully unlocked heroes all equipped relevant upgrades and access to every skill in the game, piles of extra minis, piles of crafting materials for higher level armor crafting, etc.).

Getting to EotN also requires getting to LA first which was somewhere in the lv12-15 range(it’s been a very very long time!)

I would go with something like http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=details&details=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA&todo=A4dAAAAwGgAwzBAQAAkAAEAAA/PAAAAASAEIA / http://tinyurl.com/np4uhve

Instead of the wiki’s suggestion. I don’t know what insane person thought including Tormented Weapons was a good idea …

Complete all Campaigns with max reward, normal and hard mode, and get vanquisher. in all maps. Also don’t do cartography you’ll kill yourself.

Vanquisher?! That is only slightly better than cartographer. Running through a map multiple times because you missed a single group that patrols the whole map is probably one of the most aggravating moments in GW1.

Why do vanquisher and not cartographer? They go hand-in-hand…

Because if you played GW1 you know as well as I do that the last .x% is more time consuming than most vanquisher maps, especially if you can’t be bothered with Texmod, which I couldn’t even get to work on my computer during my time in GW1.

If you do decide to go for Cartographer I would do Prophecies’ map last.

I actually found that in most cases the Prophecies maps are easier because they’re more ‘forgiving’ than the other campains. They have a lot of extra space so you don’t need to be nearly as thorough about getting every little tiny bit around the edge.

Having done the Factions and Nightfall maps if I load up Textmod and look at what’s left on Prophecies I’m often surprised by the big chunks I never got. (And because I’m weird tempted to go and do them so I can finish it ‘properly’ even if it doesn’t count towards the title.

But even though they’re both extremely time consuming I do agree that Vanquisher and Cartographer go well together. For one thing if you’ve missed uncovering large chunks of the map you’re far more likely to miss mobs because you won’t know to look there (it’s not always obvious until you go there that there is more to uncover), and from the other side if you’re going around the whole of every map anyway to get the mobs it takes much less effort to take the extra time to scrape the edges for cartographer than it would to do the two separately.

Think about it this way: If you’re doing Vanquisher, take an extra 10-30 minutes to also Cartograph that each area.

I just finished my 30/50 pts recently with a bare minimal wealth/effort needed. Here are what I found best for me:

  • Start with getting both Faction and NightFall campaign. It is so beneficial in skills and gold wise, and greatly reduces the grinding time.
  • Do make all 8 characters, even if you don’t use all them. In 1 year, they will give you 8 birthday minis.
  • Get a ritualist character in Faction. It is just too OP in PvE. If you and your wife can be both ritualists, consider vanquishing, hard mode stories and dungeons 99% done.
  • Complete quests and progress your Faction campaign until you get to Kaineng. Then, at level 10, unlock the path to NightFall and from there progress to Eye of the North so that you can get as much heroes as possible.
  • Your ultimate party will need: 2 ritualists (players or Xandra), 3 mesmers (Gwenx2, Norgu), 2 necromancers (Olias, Livia), and Koss (because he is such a tanky hottie!). I suggest you two become ritualists to save the pain of acquiring the ritualist heroes: Xandra during tournament of Eye of the North (hard), and Razah until almost endgame (hard and lengthy). It was extremely difficult for a solo player to get 3 mesmer heroes ( I paid for a mercenary one), but with two players it should be easy. Your team build should be this: http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/Build:Team_-_Glint%27s_Heroway or variations of this build.
  • It is advisable to get your secondary profession necromancer and/or mesmer to unlock the elite skils for your heroes.
  • Eye of the North buffs your characters to level 20 and it has most of the necessary elite skills so you may want to finish it first, then Night Fall for Norgu, then Factions because it is short and gives a lot of gold rewards and access to Jade Quarry.
  • When your characters are level 20 and the above team build is finish, consider this order:
    • Finish the campaign Factions, Eye of the North, Night Fall, Prophecies (4 statues)
    • During it, remember to get the prestige pets Rainbow Phoenix and Black Moa while equiping a CHARM (ranger) skill (2 statues). You don’t have to be a ranger, have your hero a secondary ranger and micro it.
    • Get your first prestige armor, the earliest is Sunspear, at 60 plats (1 HoM point)
    • Do the Black Moa Chick quest, which gives you 1 HoM pt for unique pet
    • While doing the quest, finish Sorrow Furnace (1 statue). Your team build should cruise through this with no problem.
    • Get a Luxon/ Kurzick guild. Grind Jade quarry, donate the faction points to your guild (x2 progressing points), get your titles to tier 4, then switch to the opposing side (2 titles). Or gather enough amber and jade for at least 1 set of Kurzick/Luxon prestige armor (1 HoM point)
    • You will need to choose between 5 prestige armor sets or 5 prestige weapons. I lost count of which one is cheaper, but you don’t have to do both to get 30 points. The cheapest armor sets are Ancient, Norn, Vanguard and Asuran (40 plats each, since you don’t have to craft the head piece to get the statues)
    • Farm 10 Clothes of Brotherhood, 5 Stolen Sunspear armors and 5 ancient armor remnants to clothe 20 differents heroes. With the pets, it should give you at least 7/8 HoM points.
    • Do the War in Kryta chain events for at least 1 Oppressor weapon. Grind the dungeons to get mat for at least 1 Destroyer weapon. When the Wayfarer’s Reveries quest comes back in August, finish it for 1 Tormented weapon, don’t miss this yearly chance. You can buy two more from players.
  • As for minis, it will be difficult to get 20 of them as prices are currently inflated because of no supplies. Whenever possible, buy at least 1 purple and buy the rest white. Check map chat, some nice guys will offer them for free
  • If money is a problem, then slowly walk yourself down the road to get enough titles/statues for the Honor branch. They take longer time but you may like them more than I do. The less grinding statues are the ones for completing Elite Mission, hard but excellent rewards.

Again, Ritualist is ridiculously OP, ugh… I strongly advise new players to start with Ritualist and research both the SoS and Soul Twisting builds.

To OP: feel free to give me an in-game message (in GW2), I can help you with some extra materials

P.S.: Consider selling all Black and White dyes you get as drop. They are a good source of income.

P.S.2: Don’t forget to turn blind eyes away from those exclusive, shiny and pretty prestige skins (Chaos gloves, etc…)

P.S.3: Zaishen keys are ridiculously expensive. I’d rather sold them than buy them.
