With the new Megaservers it’s making it increasingly difficult to tell if new members are actually from the same server so that they can benefit from the guild upgrades. Is it possible to discern if members of a guild are from the same server as you at a quick glance?

They plan to eventually combine influence, bonuses etc across the board for guilds who have members split across home servers but as yet there is no current known time when that will be rolled out. I’m hoping sometime soon. We’ll just have to wait and see.

There is no way to tell from which server someone is for as far as I’m aware, only which one they’re currently playing on. Therefor I’d always highly recommend putting your server location into your recruitment message and warn new recruits if they come to you. Hopefully it will change once Megaservers are fully implented and we can benefit from all extra a guild has to offer outside of WvW regardless of server.

If you insist on checking ask them to enter WvW, but I see very little downside for the guild compared to the member so that might be a bit extreme.

Hmm, that is a bit of a shame. Is there any word from ANet on if there is going to be changes to the guild system to accommodate the Megaserver system? I can’t seem to find anything regarding it.
