Can I buy the digital copy on their website and give it to a friend? if i can how do i do it without it going on to my acc?

I believe you are given a CD-key after buying the game, this cd-key is used to create a GW2 account. You can simply copy and paste the cdkey to your friend so that he makes the account.

Yes indeed like Pie Flavor said. That is how my bf gave me the game. he had me make my own account he bought the game for me and gave me the game key to activate on my account.
