Hello Guild Wars 2 community, I hope you’re well. This thread is very simple; I’m requesting as many high quality screen shots of the recently added magitech armor set as I can get. I would gather these myself, but sadly my current graphics card (I’m planning to update as soon as I save up the cash) isn’t quite up to the task of getting as high quality as I need. I need screens of the male/human version, with as much high quality detail as possible. These screens are more about the armor than the character, so close ups of things like the gloves, the boots, and the coat would be must highly valued. Likewise the colors don’t matter, so long as I –hopefully- get enough verity in screens from the community to tell what dye channel effects what detail on what part.

Why do I want these you ask? Dragon Con.

For those who don’t know what that is, I highly suggest you look into it. But, being brief, Dragon Con is an annual “geek culture” convention held on Labor Day Weekend in my home town of Atlanta, and hosts some of the best cosplay in the country, rivaling even ComicCon. And having attended this last convention I noticed two things that bugged me.

1; I wasn’t in costume.
2; Nobody was representing Guild Wars.

These things have to change with next year’s convention, so I figured why not kill two birds with one stone, as the saying goes. My plan is to ride out the rest of this year collecting images, sketching templates and other reference images, and testing costume making techniques and materials. Then, beginning early next year, start the long process of crafting a fully fleshed out suit of armor. With luck, time, and a little skill I should have something awesome whipped up by September 2014.

To everyone who helps me out, thanks a ton.

Thanks for the images. Very useful, but hopefully I’ll get some more before the end of the year.

I’ll see what I can do for you tomorrow, as I have just seen this and am heading to bed. I have the coat on my thief. I haven’t used the other skins from the Medium set yet as I don’t like their look so much, but I can give you loving detail on the coat.

I just hope you make something that looks like it really is the coat! I did historical costuming for years and it was a point of pride to me to use the right fabrics, have the right underthings and boning, everything to make it something someone would really have worn rather than a wrinkly cotton impression of the outfit. (I didn’t do great on my Horatio Hornblower coachman’s coat, the wool I found was too thin and too bright a blue, but otherwise my track record was pretty darn good imho).

Anyway, I love that you want to make the outfit and want to help however I can with your research.

I am hopping zone to zone looking for daylight and wondering if they have sneakily synched up time between all zones after all. Nothing but dimness. keeps trying

All righty! I have many shots, aimed at showing dye fields and details of the coat. If you pm me an email I can send you the raw screenshots in higher rez (uncropped). I fear that I gave up on daylight and went inside to firelight, and when that was done out I walked into daylight >< So I took some more shots. On dyes, a note (that shouldn’t matter for costuming): If you put the exact same dye on the main field and on the trim, the main field will be much darker.

I got paranoid about how many shots I was putting in, so here are the daylight ones:
