Q:

So was going to purchase Eye of the North for the armor rewards but have a couple of questions.

-Do I need to buy a used or new copy of the game? I’m not sure if there’s a keycode I have to enter to my original GW account for the expansion and if so, I’m assuming I have to buy EOTN new.

-As soon as I attach EOTN to my original GW account what’s my next step? Can I immediately access EOTN in Guild Wars 2 or is there content I must complete in GW1 in order to do so. If yes, what kind of content is that and will it require a high level toon in GW1? I only played until about level 8 or so.

A:

There is a code to activate the new content, buy a new version of the expansion.

When you get the expansion on your account you’ll get a quest in either LA, Kaineng, or Kamadan to go investigate a fissure. This starts EoTN. You won’t get to the HOM right away in the storyline, but it’s relatively fast.

All Eye of the North content is level 20

In order to obtain rewards from the Hall of Monuments there are quite a few tasks you must complete in the first game. Check the Guild Wars Wiki for more info, but don’t expect it to be easy.

Grand Master of The Knights Hospitaller [STJ]
Isle of Janthir – Sylvari Mesmer – Alexandre Le Grande

You have to get to level 17 to get to EotN and realistically you’ll either need friends to play with or you’ll have to spend some time building out a Hero group for farming/running/missions.

I have 30 HoM points and it wasn’t worth the time + $$.
