Okay. I’m tired of this guy. How do you kill him. I don’t want to hear anything about knocking him back out of circles, I want to know, from personal experience, how other guilds have killed this frog.

Since the patch, we have tried killing him with a small group, trying the KB, and also trying to just burn him down, we don’t have the time, it takes more than 7 minutes to kill him by just random zerging.

There is something to this fight, I can’t find a guide anywhere on the internet for him. Does anyone know how to kill this guy?

During my last fight with him, we had 12 people. Halfway through the fight, randomly, his fire shield was removed, but was reapplied like 20 seconds later. We don’t know what caused it, but something happened.

I would love to hear how other guilds kill this guy. Even if your guild just 50 man burns him down, I hate that our guild basically sighs and gives up when we see this guy pop up on our list.

They changed him recently. We got him tonight and failed our guild bounty. I can’t figure out how to get him out of his fire shield.

That seems odd. I didn’t notice a change with him from two weeks ago and today.

We had 8 people when we fought him today.

I think Mesmers are a good thing to have in this fight. If he hangs out in his Fire shield and builds up lots of might, you can Arcane Thievery it. Mesmers are also good at wearing away Defiant stacks.

If you have a guardian, I kinda recommend having Pure of Voice, just to help with some of the conditions. Everyone should have some kind of condition removal just in case as well, anyways. Highly recommend to people in melee range to have a stunbreak too, incase he jumps on you.

For us, our strategy is really just to zerg him. It’s worked for us so far >.>; People in melee range should dodge his jumping stomp. When you see him go for a drink, be prepared to dodge his fire breath. If you’re getting burned to death… stop attacking him and back off a bit until you heal up again. Despite him having a fire shield up, we kept fighting him, and if our mesmer could pull/push him out, all the better, but if not, we just kept the pressure on him.

Best of luck! You can do it!

I think you are confused, DigitalKirin. As of the April patch, he doesn’t stack might anymore. He applies vulnerability to targets instead.

There does seem to be something very wrong with the fight though. My understanding is we are supposed to remove defiant and then knock him out of the area that applies his fire shield (while avoiding his other abilities).

The problem is we are able to remove defiant and knock him back or pull him easily enough, but the fire shield never goes away – and we are a smaller guild, so we dont have the dps to zerg through it.

We’re either not knocking him back far enough – which seems unlikely – or there is a bug stopping his flame shield from dropping.

Additionally, there is no way to tell where his circle is on the ground.

I really hope they fix him soon (or someone tells me what we are doing wrong ) – I love guild missions and we seem to draw Half Baked Komali every single week.

Hey everyone,

For the longest time, most of us did believe that you had to remove the fire shield from him by using Boon removal. Even Dulfy had this on her website. This was never the case to defeating Half-Baked Komali, and we have been wrong this whole time.

To remove the fire shield correctly, Komali will throw an AOE flame geyser on the ground. From this geyser, flame jellies will spawn. You must kill all of the flame jellies in order for her shield to go away. Simple right? Well, there is a problem. It is currently bugged. Most of the time, Komali will not spawn the flame jellies, and thus you can never remove the shield.

My advice is to just keep DPSing her down in order to unbug her. When she reaches 50% health, she will begin to function normally.

Yeah I tried figuring out a good strategy for my guild for this. We tried spamming boon removal (before patch) and knockbacks.. Didn’t work.

When might & stability were removed, we tried timing knockback as defiant ran out (By the way, Defiant never applies the right number of stacks), but our knockbacks never removed his shield. We just kept fighting and eventually, randomly the shield went down.

In order to win, you need to be lucky enough to get at least 30 seconds of unshielded time. Unlucky days cause the shield to go up immediately. Lucky days give you a minute to half-bake him before the shield goes up, and then DPS will finish him off.

I don’t remember seeing flame jellies. If that is the strategy, it needs bug fixing ASAP, as this is wasting a lot of real-life manhours when an event fails due to a bug. Furthermore, it really discourages players from participating in bounties in future attempts.

If they can’t fix it ASAP, they should temporarily remove Half-Baked Komali until they do.

I’ve had Komali a few times, and never seen any flame jellies. Not sure whether that is true or not. Our general strategy has been to apply a CC from someone with boon removal (has to be both) when he’s out of defiant, and this tends to work.

Beyond that, I’ve had the best luck killing him with medium sized groups,. Just like any other event boss, he stacks with the more players that are around, so trying to zerg through the fire shield just makes it more difficult for you.

My guild had some trouble defeating him, often resulting in the failure of the bounty. Then we decided to go full melee against him, everyone in close combat spamming aoe and Komali’s health goes down really fast. Now it’s a piece of cake to defeat him.

We abandoned all tactics and nuked him Friday, with 8 people iirc. It was less problematic to down him than to stay alive, you just need a lot of condition removal. Shaman Arderus was harder.

We had him last night and he went down so fast. There were 2-3 guilds and i think about 12 people in all. His fire sheild was rarely up and ran out fast. Not sure if it was because we had a thf ripping boons or just got lucky. Did this last week and failed because his fire sheild was perma.

Had him yesterday for our bounty. We started with a mes, thief, necro, ele, and ranger, then called in for a few more thieves and mesmers (for the old strategy of boon removal). He put up his fire shield right away, so needless to say we failed – though we did get him down to about 10% health without pure DPS builds.

Having fought him before the patch, I noticed that Komali no longer stacks might or has stability (yay!), but indeed does apply vulnerability to his attackers while the fire shield is up. Yesterday, we tried (to no avail) to steal/strip his fire shield and use knockbacks and pulls to move him around in case he was in a fire field granting the shield. With about a minute left in the fight we started seeing those lava elementals, but at that point people were frustrated anyway. I will keep a better eye out for them next time (or just go with warrs and condi removers)!

Boon removal is pointless now. He doesn’t have any removable boons.

Defiant keeps him in place. To knock him back, you need to remove all 20 with CC skills, and hope that the 21st CC is a knockback and not a daze/knockdown. Even if you succeed it seems to do nothing to the fire shield.

This really needs fixing; no amount of skill can take him down reliably, and nothing is learned from each attempt. It’s simply luck if his shield magically appears or vanishes.

They made changes to this before, since it was terrible, but it doesn’t seem like they tested those changes.
