Hello there!

I have decided to try to get 12 points in Halls of Momunent, I have never played GW, but I get the feeling that most of the game is solo? So I have some questions

Which profession is should I play? (I only have prophecies and Eye of the North)

Is it possible to get 12 points with just Prophecies and Eye of the North or do I need factions and Nightfall?

12 points shouldn’t be that hard to get. The link below has a guide for getting the quickest, usually class wouldn’t matter in GW1 seeing you have henchmen and hero’s (later on in the game). So just roll a class you think you’d enjoy, for efficiency I’d go Warrior.

40 mini pets = 7 (Common white ones are pretty cheap – I can donate what I have too)
1 rare pet = 6 points

These re just some of the easiest you could do. Enjoying the lore and completing the story whilst you’re there is also a good idea.

It would be far easier if you had all the companies. Less of a grind. What I’d suggest is play through till you get to LA, do the mission to get to the far shiverpeaks, do Eye of the North for the heros, finish prophecies, then do war in Kryta as you will gain weapons from playing that that you can put in your hall, do the challenge mission in the Central transfer station to get hero armor so you can put them in your hall. If people will give you minis that will help.

It’s not that hard to get 12 points if you follow the guide. It’s easier still if you ask your guildies to help you out — pretty much anyone with HoM points has “extra” wealth in GW1 that can be converted into something that you can use to gain more points. (e.g. I have a friend who has probably donated 150 points to others, if not more; they had been hoarding for just this sort of thing.)
