im not exactly sure how it works? it says i need to link my gw account to gw2…but i dont really understand what that means…does it mean link >GW1< with gw2? or just a GW account(whatever that is :|)

in other words can anyone do hall of monuments or just those who had a gw1 account?

You have to have a GW1 account. So you’d need to shell out $20 and buy any campaign (except EotN) to get 3 points. From there, you need to buy EotN to be able to get more (although it is possible to get Legendary Defender of Ascalon linked without EotN).

Guild Wars 1, or GW1 is largely a player-created term. Technically the original game is just called Guild Wars.

So yes you need a GW1 account. Specifically you need one or more of the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) and the Eye of the North expansion pack. You also need to collect titles, items and other achievements in the game to earn the points.
