Q:

Hey guys,

I have created my own guild back in closed Beta, and have a few friends and co-workers in the guild, preferring to play mostly with people I know IRL for more organized and repeated play.

I am looking at guild halls (specifically for the Ornate Guild Gauntlets atm) and it is looking like even if I DO manage to get a few of us on at once, we likely will not be able to claim a hall or upgrade quickly if at all!

I feel like joining another guild just for access to a hall and its resources is kinda lame, especially when my play is so casual. (sometimes 20 min here or there due to kids and other responsibilities IRL.)

What are my options?

Thanks

Upgrading a guild hall to the point where you can get the new guild armour will take tens of thousands of gold pieces worth of materials. So to know your options, I’ll ask you this, do you have tens of thousands of gold pieces?

If the answer to that is no, then your best option is to be ‘kinda lame’ and find another large guild to join, one that understands the limited time you have to play and accepts that, and is willing to share their guild upgrades that are funded by group effort.

Upgrades have another cost as well: favor. How do you get that? You run missions. So you need guildies on who can help with those. The “Easy” PVE missions generally can be done with just three people, and each give 300 favor so it’s not impossible. Just very very slow.

For claiming, though, you can post a request for aid in this forum (possibly including willingness to do two claims in a row so you combine forces with another guild in the same boat); 7 to 9 people is enough to do the claim so long as everyone has updrafts (Precipice, crucial) or jumping mushrooms (Hollow, less vital). I’ve helped a few NA guilds get their halls after spotting the request here.

It will be a very slow progression in your situation. But I would put up a thread asking for help claiming and try it now, while there plenty of other small guilds that still need help.
Once you’ve claimed, or even before you’ve claimed, you can spend 50 gold and 50 favor to buy a merchant and anvil.(No minimum guild level or materials required for these two – just gold and favor) Your storage will be grandfathered in, and you’ll have a lot of basic convenience in your new guild hall. You can hit the G key, click the <Enter Guild Hall> and enjoy the convenience of being able to sell, buy basic equipment, repair armor, and access guild storage; then go right back to where you were.(instead of having to travel to town) Meanwhile you collect materials and queue up upgrades to get you to the point where you can make guild armor.
The dulfy guide linked has a lot of useful information about claiming, and your first few upgrades. The wiki page will help you work out the upgrade path you need to take to get your guild armorer, and help you decide what you do or don’t want to put resources into. Good luck.

People also need to know what region you’re in (EU/NA) to know if they can help you. Your time zone and hours that you’re available to play are helpful.
DragonesssCG points out that you can cooperate with other guilds to earn favor:

And if you’re in EU also, you might be able to help each other.

Just learned something new, relevant to this – It looks like some of your guild’s old upgrades are preserved, including guild armorer, and weapon smith. So if you had a guild armorer before, it isn’t as long a process. You’ll still have to unlock the Tavern, Mine, Capacity 1, and the Market to get it, though. It’s a lot of grinding materials, but just a few guild missions worth of favor.

Speaking from personal experience as I am pretty much the driving force behind my small guild’s upgrades. The biggest issue I run into for upgrades is silverwastes shovels. It takes 50 of them to build the mine and that is required.

Favor becomes problematic if you don’t have at least two other people. It helps if you set the guild missions to PvE missions instead of mixed, as some of the easy PvE missions can be soloed. I soloed both the easy trek and the easy race this past week. Medium treks need at the very least one other person, but preferably two from my tests. It is only possible to run to seven or eight of the locations alone.

If you have old upgrades, it really helps accelerate the upgrade process. Otherwise, you’ll be spending a lot of gold and time grinding the materials for it.

For hall claiming, it’s easy to run it with 5 people who are able to hold their own. Honestly, 3 of the 5 people I had in my group that helped me claim the hall were randoms in the map not even in my guild, just in my party and we did just fine.

For upgrading, I feel your pain. I have a super small guild too and it’s basically paying for everything out of pocket and grinding for it on my own without the constant additional help.

Instead of calling out in map and doing the claim with PUGs, I ‘d put up a notice here and form an alliance with another small guild. Because even after the claim, you still need to do guild missions for the favor.
It’s what my small guild did. And we met some nice, helpful people. We helped them claim, they helped us claim. Now we’re helping each other with missions. It’s a win-win.(plus you can meet nice people)

I agree with Elden. If you want to keep your guild small, having an alliance is a great way to still be able to do content that requires more people, and you get to make some nice friends!

You can probably safely ignore alot of people telling you it’s not possible, I’ve practically solo built my guild hall and I can tell you its very possible, (even though I do play ALOT) as for guild missions one thing I can suggest is keep an eye out for a guild trek mission that is easy difficulty, if you have enough of the map completed these are very easy to obtain, its how I’ve gotten my favor anyway
