Hello guys/gals
I havnt played GW2 since release .. And decided after all this time to pick it up again ..
Might as well call me a new player.. The highest lv I got was 2 rofl..

Anyway.. I decided to go with a warrior after much research online about soloing and survivability.. Warrior seamed like a good fit..
However.. I am continuing to research online and it seames that warrior is kinda meh when it comes to engame.. And pretty mind numbing when leveling..

I was thinking of trying a ranger instead.. But I hear the ai for the pet is not very good.

I’m no stranger to MMo’s or real action (twitch) combat.
Elemental seams like its a tad to involved for me.

And every other class I looked up seamed to have mixed reviews about skill level while playing.
Obviously opinions will very depending on each player..

But my question is this..
I would like to stick to the warrior .. I like feeling strong and hard to kill.. I have had my fair share of classes that fall over dead from a strong breeze.
If I end up making it to end game especially with raids coming.. Is the warrior a class that will be booted from groups as soon as its seen?
Is the damage output really as bad as I have read?

Overall I’m looking for a class where the survivability is above average.. The dmg output is good and viable.. And I don’t have to kite mobs around the rosey (never did like kiting)
The main class I played most is from wow was the warlock .. So that’s about as much complexity as I would like.. Anymore and my brain starts hurting lol.. I’m old
And I mean from BC and wrath days.. Not the faceroll it is now.
Overall I’m just looking for suggestions and opinions from those who have played through PvE and endgame stuff.. Not a big PVP.
Thankyou for any help

I’m not sure where you saw that warriors are low damage and not wanted. They’re one of the most desired classes for group PvE playing. So, if you want to stick with your warrior, stick with it; it’s highly unlikely that they’ll suddenly become unpopular after HoT comes out.

As far as being boring to level, yeah, warrior is pretty much a no-brainer. But so is ranger, really. But if you want high survivability, easy to master, and powerful, then warrior is a good class for you.

I have 1 of every profession and although I prefer ranged in other games warrior is not my least favorite to play. I was surprised that I like it and actually have fun with melee on all the professions in GW2.

In all honesty Warrior will not be laid to rest any time soon and is a very sought after pvp/dungeon class but all classes if played right and built right offer ‘something’ good for most situations. For example I have always played ranged classes (mainly casters/healers) in all mmos ive ever played and this was the first game that made me feel comfortable in the melee zone as i’ve never been an ‘in your face’ type of player. I enjoyed Thief immensely as a solo glass cannon build because I can tear through mobs super quick while they are blinded and get to the next quickly with SOS and I can switch weapons and range if I need it. However, if I do drop the ball (improper dodging (gameplay) bad blind timing, stealth timing and situational awareness, I can get my … handed to me pretty easily and look like a complete idiot (Yeah i’ve made lots of mistakes learning this class)..and if I want to run dungeon I can easily respec into a more group support oriented role. The great part about this game is that you can completely be yourself, with any class, and ‘depending on the player’, ANY class can be amazing. Every time I hear someone talk about how weak their class is and how hard of a time they are having and how much ‘this class sucks and I should change’ I always see another player literally owning on the same class. It’s all how you play and customizing the class to make it your own, with experience, you learn what you need to change and when to adapt to most situations. Warrior is no exception. There are crappy warriors out their that make the class look cheesy, and there are amazing warriors out there that make the class look god mode. Even classes that most people have frowned upon in certain situations (Ranger, im looking at you) can be completely turned around with the right player; the player is everything to the class, the class is NOT everything to the player. I would recommend just finding the type of gameplay you want and experimenting like crazy with builds/traits. If you really are a good, solid, rounded player, you will make any class look good.
