The major cities such as Divinity’s Reach are still good places to go. Also Vigil Keep waypoint.

I see the human capital has them but they are locked out “no pass no entry, no exceptions”

The easiest way is to go into the mists either WvW or Eothm or sPVP and use the gate to Lions arch. It will take you to Vigil keep since Lions Arch was destroyed.

This is for pass holders (Gem item only). The ones you want are in the south of the city around the inner ring.

I am also noticing the game is… well : / basically dead. It says my server population is Very High, yet in capital cities I have yet to see a single person.

because people are not there. They are in WvW or dungeons or fractals or doing meta events or Champ train farming.

The Lion’s Arch Hub has moved to Vigil Keep (NE Gandaran Fields). Note that there are no free access crafting facilities there….you have to use other cities to craft (or pay for a limited time ticket for the crafting facilities at Vigil Keep).

I have yet to enter that area and not see numerous players on my server (Yaks Bend).

So basically it was just a money grab to get people to pay to have access to crafting stations -_-

Not really, you can get to your bank, trading post and crafting stations just as easily in the racial cities.

Every race’s city have bank, TP and crafting stations. The MF in the PvP area is easiest to get to if that’s your thing. City and WvW gates now take you to Vigil Keep where all the gates are now.

While that is not an inaccurate statement, they DO have to pay the bills and they don’t have monthly fees. I’m not going to begrudge them trying to make money, but I’m also NOT paying for crafting when I can go thru a nearby portal and travel a bit to do it for free….

Actually, the best Crafting / Trading hub in the game is in EbonHawke, but that’s a bit out of the way and requires 2 portal trips (via Divinity’s Reach)

I like Rata Sum for crafting, bank, TP access. It’s all right next to the central WP and all the crafting stations are a short walk away. My favorite part is that it’s not super heavily populated as it’s kind of out of the way.

If you want a nice quiet place, there is always Ebonhawke Stronghold.
I really don’t see why more people don’t hang out there.

My new preferred option is Ebonhawke. Crafting, banks, Trade post all in a convenient small area. The only thing lacking is a mystic toilet, but I use that rarely so not a problem for me.

Kinda true-sure you can go to your home home city-but LS had everything —and now you have to pay for Air ship or go somehwere else.
So ya, like permanent tools/nodes at home instance etc-—the ship us a convinence item cash grab for those that have more disposible income. The Air Ship needs to crash and all it’s staition put on the ground a Vigil for free access.

For me the airship is the opposite of convenient. I still have 1 use tickets sitting in my bank because I just really dislike the layout of the ship. As others have said several cities have a really convenient layouts of bank/crafting/tp. You want to pay to get into the airship or human city zone go for it, myself I don’t see the point.

Rata Sum. All 8 crafting stations are close by to the Accountancy waypoint, which contains bank, guild bank, an item merchant and the TP. Craft, then Acc-waypoint to retrieve stuff from the TP, then craft more, etc etc as necessary.

Frankly, I used this even when Lion’s Arch existed because it was that much more convenient.

LA was just so laggy at times i hated going there too. Rata is my city and more fun to go to anyways.

Because you could get there quickly and for free from anywhere in the world by going to the PvP lobby or WvW and then through the portal. Getting to any other city means either paying for a waypoint or going through another loading screen.

Save 3 silver 27 copper on waypoints, spend 15-40 seconds on an additional load screen, then drop a couple extra minutes here and there because LA’s layout is less optimal…

If it takes you 15 minutes to do CoFp1, then the minimum 4 silver in foregone gains from a 30 second loss of efficiency already costs more than the waypoint fees. It’s actually more when you throw in the random drops on the way and ecto you can get from the dungeon tokens.

But most people don’t calculate time-costs. Unless, of course, they’re using it to bully some random dude in Soldier gear for an elitist-populated dungeon, then suddenly they seem to do it a lot.

Did that in the beginning but later the massive loading time it took really wasn’t worth to spare the little money that you mostly got back with chopping a tree or mining some ore. And you can gather quite a few in the time you spare with directly porting to another city
