Hello all im new and need a little help on starter class selection
I think everyone will feel uncomfortable the very first time they play a certain class. If you just keep playing, you will eventually get used to it, and get better at making builds. I guess it all comes down to how you want your armor to look like (light, medium, heavy), and what kind of weapons you would want to be seen using (maybe for a legendary weapon?). Anyway, I think all classes are great.
Really, it depends on your playstyle. Every class has different aspects that benefit them. Elementalists are super versitile, thieves have no cooldown and instead use initiative, rangers get pets, engineers get special guns and turrets, warriors do more damage/better bonuses when the skills are properly timed, etc etc.
Each class plays completely different; not just because of the weapons they use, but also because of how their class gimick operates. Elementalist is definately an advanced class, and personally I feel Thief is too, as the lack of cooldown makes it very fast paced. I would recommend a guardian or a warrior; the higher defense on those allows you to take a little more time with your skill selection. Ranger is also a popular choice since your pet can function as a second player, helping attack or draw agro from you.
I’m personally a fan of the heavier classes, especially warrior. They do good damage and don’t die easily. As for any class I’ve played (and I’ve tried them all), I think they all stack up fairly well against each other.
Every class has the potential for high DPS if that’s what you want. Take a look at each specific classes’ subforum to look for a good weapon set/build to maximize your damage.
But some thoughts on the classes you mentioned:
- They’ll get the Necro bugs worked out eventually, so don’t worry too much about it.
- Elementalist really shines when switching attunements to match the situation. However, If you like one more (or feel it fits your character better), feel free to use it heavily, only switching out if you are in a situation where it is absolutely necessary.
- Thief does really really good burst damage, able to bring things down quickly without their opponent touching them. However, fights with lots of opponents (or high-hp single opponents) can be a bit rough. If you find your damage is lacking, see if your weapons are a low level compared to you or just try a new combination.
i finally tried a class everyone suggested and its the Mesmer class i think its called and its pretty nice i watched sum vids also of them and boy wat ive seen is pretty great endgame and in pvp and im a pvp type of guy so ill think ill stick it out with this class i have no problems with taking long to lvl it gives me time to enjoy the game more xD^^
