Guild Wars 2

Being a semi-new player, I didn’t realize the chests containing this piece were all going to be in high level areas. My main is a level 43 Guardian.

I’ve made it to the Straits of Devastation and I am now being one hit killed by all the mobs so I guess running the rest of the way to Malchor’s Leap isn’t going to happen, I’m already really frustrated after a few hours of trying. I did try The Vizier’s Tower chest but it didn’t drop the Gold Ball Ornament sadly :/

Would there be a helpful person out there willing to run me through one of the areas to get the Gold Ball Ornament? I have all the other pieces and I would so appreciate it!

I don’t have much gold but if there’s something you would like that I can get with karma as a thank you, please let me know.

Yeah, you can only get it in Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore, I believe. That’s the only one that’s not accessible in a beginner zone, though.

Unfortunately, there isn’t too much another player could do to protect you through the Orr zones, other than stopping to revive you every time you get killed (which will be VERY often, as you already noticed due to mobs having an increased aggro range when you’re that low-leveled). I mean, it can be done, but it’ll take almost as long as it would take for you to try to do it on your own. But maybe someone with stealth could cut down on the time a lot.

What you could do is try to level up a bit (either by doing pvp to get tomes of knowledge, simply logging in every day to get more tomes, or by playing the game as you normally would) before trying again. You have until the morning of January 12th to get all the Wintersday stuff done (maybe longer, if it’s anything like it was last year where you could finish the achievement if you’d started it before the festival ended). So, that’s a decent amount of time to get to around level 70-75.

Are you NA? I would be happy to help. I can thief-stealth you, scrapper-stealth you (I am not sure how often I can do the gyro stealth, but it can get you past a number of things), or guardian-aegis you as you like. Thief and guardian both have full map exploration already.

The other thing I can do is let you teleport to me if you have a tele-to-friend. However as you are a new player you won’t have those from character birthday gifts so you’d have to pay for one.

I’ll go in game now to look for you and see if we can do this.

Awesome — thanks for helping out and letting us know.

It was a lot of fun and a learning experience. I learned that thief stealth doesn’t last long enough to save a lowbie from the long range aggro of Risen when they smell weakness but Scrapper gyro stealth does. I learned that either Engineer underwater skills suck or I suck at using them. And I learned that other players are far too helpful with rezzes when I’m perusing the map before rezzing my lowbie friend! Poor Moose made it maybe two steps at a time between deaths before I swapped to my Scrapper and it didn’t help that I picked the wrong path the first try.

Still we managed it and then got the Green Ball in Diessa and with the Star of Gratitude now in Moose’s bags we capped it with a fast run up Breached Wall Blitz. It made for a feel-good New Years Eve even before I went to a fancy dress party
