Help I dont know what to do now lol
Exotics are fine. Many will tell you there are better stat combos to put on the gear than others, but for now just go with what you got.
Dungeons and fractals can be done via the LFG tool (your Friends panel, upper left, second tab). You’ll do best posting your own LFG, something like “New 80, new to dungeon, need help.” I believe there is also a third party site to help organize help with dungeons.
You don’t need ascended at all, except to hold Agony Resistance for higher level fractals. By the time you’re ready to do those, you’ll have a much better grasp on your preferred gear.
I’m getting a bit sleepy tonight but if you’re around during the day tomorrow (I’m east coast, usually available starting around 2 pm eastern) I can spend some time answering questions and then help cue up a run to teach you the ropes.
Some ideas (which you may have already completed):
- Finish personal story
- Finish exploring all the zones
- Look through achievements and work towards completing those of interest (Uncanny Canner, maybe?)
- Look on the wiki for armor or weapons, then see how to acquire them. That can lead you to collecting materials, max crafting disciplines, etc.
- Unlock traits
You get the idea. Tons of stuff to do in this game just on the PvE side.
I think the biggest question to ask is what do you want to do with the game?
WvW: Are you wanting to fight against other servers and defend landmarks?
PvP: Do you want to compete against other players in small teams
PvE: Are you interested in going up against the content/story developers have created to challenge players?
You’re not locked into one aspecter of the game and can bounce between the three. There is Guild only content within the game, but the grand majority of the game can be played without one. The advantage of a guild is really to help a player progress/grow and to aid them in like minded goals. Looking for Speed running? Are you into roleplaying? Needing a mentor to teach you the basics? Those are just a few examples of what guilds offer.
Once you decide what you are after we can give you better guidance on what you should be pursuing. E.G. Ascended gear is awesome, but it may not be worthwhile unless you plan to run fractals. Right now, as a new-ish player, your job is just to enjoy the game and find what’s most fun for you.
Thanks for all the answers guys i think i will be going for a more PvE.
PSA: Do NOT do your personal story yet. Do it at end-April, or you may permanently miss story content on your character.

I would also recommend joining a guild, as socialising can be the only thing left worth doing in a game after some time, when you have done everything several hundred times and explored the world fully a few times. From personal experience.

If you are going to be doing primarily PvE, there are a few options. Some are solo, others need a group (dungeons, fractals).
As was previously mentioned, “world completion” is a lengthy task that has some benefits such as allowing you to get to any waypoint in the game at a moments notice (this is good for when you want to get to a zone boss fight, or catch up with guildmates, etc.). You also get some decent loot along the way as you finish zones.
As you go along you might want to look a bit more into how different stat combinations affect your gameplay. Learn why “zerker” is the “meta” and so on. A set of exotic armor and weapons is enough to get around without a problem, but eventually you’ll want to customize.
If you aren’t averse to it, you can start crafting as well. Work your way towards 500 in a crafting profession that benefits your character(s). The long term goal for crafting would be either a legendary, or crafting ascended items.
Other things you can do in PvE that take time and effort:
-Build Mawdrey
-complete all jumping puzzles
-find all the diving locations
-pick a champion and learn to solo it (note: with many this may be difficult as the mega-server tech looks to put lots of people into the same zone)
-Hop on the world boss train for a night and pick up some loot
There are a number of lore related things as well, but that’s not an area I go into, so I won’t comment there.
All of my gear has precision ferocity and power on it. I will definetly look into the zerkers

Chances are you’re already using it if the stats are Power > Precision = Ferocity and not Precision > Power = Ferocity. The latter is Assassin’s gear. In some cases mixing the two can be beneficial, but it’s easier to just go full Berserker.

I’d wait longer than that, it’s at least 8 weeks from now before those PS changes show up, per the FAQ in that thread.
However you can do your PS up through around level 60 (50? I don’t recall numbers well), the changes begin with A Light in the Darkness (or whatever the PS step is called where you visit the Pale Tree in the Grove with Trahearne). Don’t start that step until the changes come.
